Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

We are looking for a Shipping Supervisor - Warehouse Dept.  that supports rail car and truck shipping through the preparation of case goods, drums, and bins with the use of inventory control systems, associated documentation, personnel and time management to ensure efficient day-to-day shipping operations of the warehouse. Supports the resolution of customer complaints and requests in a timely manner. Ensures processes and procedures are followed to ensure accurate and productive work activities for warehousing functions. Monitors and documents personnel activities for performance and compliance with acceptable standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures truck and rail shipments are completed accurately, timely and all required paperwork sent to customers to maximize efficiency of operations.
  • Ensures that all loads, truck, rail, OTR, etc. have proper dunnage and all loads are secure according to SOP’s, policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that customer tags and other special tagging are properly done as required.
  • Consults Sales Demand Planner to plan picking, prepping and loading timely to ensure deliveries are made on time and on budget.
  • Calculates rail car requirements, orders, and loads timely to ensure on-time delivery and avoid unnecessary demurrage expense. 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, warehouse operations, or closely related field.
  • 4+ years relevant work experience in the manufacturing or logistics industry, to include 2 years’ experience in materials and inventory management control as well as 2 years supervisory experience, union environment is preferred.
  • 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications including knowledge on warehouse operations and supply chain management.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
