As an independent, not-for-profit organization, Lโ€™Alliance New Yorkโ€™s mission is to provide our members and students with engaging French language classes and audacious multi-disciplinary programming that celebrates the diversity of francophone cultures and creativity around the world. Lโ€™Alliance New York is internationally known for offering the largest selection of fully-immersive French language courses for students aged one to 101, and for its renowned cultural programming including the annual Bastille Day celebration that takes place on New York's famed Madison Avenue, attracting over 50,000 visitors each year; the Crossing The Line arts and performance festival that engages NYC cultural institutions in bringing dynamic international artists to audiences; Animation First, the biggest animation festival in the U.S; and the Comic Arts Fest, celebrating the intersection of American and francophone comic arts.ย 
Position Overview
Lโ€™Alliance New York is looking for a Full-Time Preschool Teacher for its Manhattan Preschool; a French immersion program designed for preschoolers (ages 2.5 to 5.5). The teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities designed to teach the French curriculum while promoting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in preschool-aged children.
Responsibilities
  • Foster enthusiasm for active participation in the learning process.
  • Understand the developmental milestones of young children.
  • Promote learning in the areas of social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Plan and implement an age-appropriate, challenging curriculum for children. Develop lesson plans that are meaningful and using the French Ministry of Education Curriculum.
  • Provide a wide variety of learning opportunities, including individual, both for small and large group activities, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Monitor studentsโ€™ progress and provide differentiated instruction tailored to each childโ€™s needs.
  • Listen and respond to parentsโ€™ and caregiversโ€™ concerns in a responsible, constructive, and resourceful manner.
  • Attend weekly collaborative meetings.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior utilizing a variety of behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • Actively seek opportunities for professional development in early childhood education.
  • Ensure the physical safety of children through anticipation and removal of hazards, visual observation of children active or at rest, and appropriately responding to potential injuries.
  • Work in a team, share information and build positive working relationships.
  • Actively support the schoolโ€™s philosophy and community and enforce its policies.
  • Integrate meaningful and appropriate use of technology within the curriculum.

Qualifications
  • Be a French native speaker.
  • Be comfortable in English (B-2 level).
  • Have a bachelor's and/or a masterโ€™s degree in early childhood education (MEEF 1er degrรฉ) - Concours de Recrutement des Professeurs d'Ecole (CRPE) preferred.
  • Have at least two years of experience in a preschool setting, of which at least one year in a French immersion program.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer.
  • Ensuring compliance with DOH regulations by completing vaccinations for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella (chickenpox), pertussis (whooping cough), influenza, and hepatitis B.
  • NYS Teaching certification a plus.
