Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Records Professional, you will ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient health information, meticulously managing records in compliance with all regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Every day you will accurately process, retrieve, and maintain patient medical records (electronic and paper). You will manage requests for Protected Health Information (PHI) ensuring strict HIPAA compliance, and play a key role in ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and proper indexing of health information within the EHR system.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, health information management principles, and comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA and privacy regulations. You will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with EHR systems.

  • All non-patient requests for information are logged daily in Meditech and show dates of receipt, mailing and charges.
  • All requests are processed/completed within 5 working days of receipt.
  • Properly secures release of patient information.
  • Takes responsibility that the requesting party receives the correct patient information.
  • No more than two factual complaints from callers/requestors within one calendar year.
  • Subpoenas are answered within 15 days according to department procedure.
