The Material Coordinator Lead is responsible for overseeing the effective management of freight movements. Assists, and advises the Supervisor in planning and coordinating all activities in support of the customers during outload operations. Provides supervisory oversight to subordinates in the absence of the Supervisor. Provides technical guidance of all freight movement, including truckload, less than truckload and small packages being shipped out of Ft. Bragg and offsite locations in support of military exercises, deployments and other missions. Prepare correspondence and reports for appropriate agencies when required.
General Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform outsight of all freight shipments in the Ft. Bragg area of operations and other off-site locations, of general, hazardous and sensitive cargo in the Defense Transportation System (DTS).
- Assist in the training of subordinates on freight cargo shipping procedures IAW Defense .Transportation Regulation (DTR). Military Freight Traffic Unified Rules Publication-1 (MFTURP-1), SOP's and industry best practices.
- Update and maintain current and doctrinally correct operating procedures IAW DTR, MFTURP-1, SOP's and industry best practices.
- Use and train employees on all freight information systems including the Cargo Movement Operating System (CMOS) and Global Freight Management (GMF).
- Track and/or trace inbound and outbound freight.
- Train employees on commercial vehicle load planning.
- Review Subordinates load plans during outload missions.
- Obtain air and water clearances as required for freight shipments.
- Prepare bills of lading and train employees on proper preparation.
- Receive and process small package shipments.
- Receive and process truckload and less than truckload shipments.
- Use and manage government and/or commercial security seals.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training Requirements: - 5 to 7 years of Transportation experience.
- Familiarity with Defense Transportation Regulation covering Cargo movement.
- Ability to work independently with little direction or supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task under short deadlines.
- Effective organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer, multiline telephone, Multi-Function Device (MFD).
- Office and outside work as required by mission. Nights, Weekend, Overtime and travel dependent on mission requirements.
- Duties may require walking, lifting, standing for long periods and being exposed to hot, cold and wet conditions.
- Experience with forklifts, pallet jacks and other handling equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to work independently or in a team-base, high collaborative environment.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
