JOB SUMMARY
CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team! The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely month-end closing processes. They will also be responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through the preparation of reports, as well as identifying and suggesting improvements for accounting reports and procedures. We take pride in preparing our team members for professional growth by giving them the guidance and training they need to advance in their position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Month-End Closing: Execute month-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for accurate reporting.
  • Fixed Assets Management: Maintain the fixed asset system, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation calculations. Ensure accurate reporting of fixed assets in financial statements.
  • Financial Reporting: Help prepare, and analyze, monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries regarding financial data.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance reporting and month-end closing workflows. Propose and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team and other departments to support financial planning and analysis activities. Build strong relationships to facilitate effective communication and data sharing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or 1+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
