Job description

Position Purpose

The Director of Enterprise Sales is responsible for soliciting freight orders from a designated and assigned base of SOAR Transportation customers by fax, phone, e-mail, web-based platforms, and electronic data interchange.

Job Functions

  • Meets with key clients to maintain relationships, negotiate terms and close deals.
  • Consistently and continually solicits committed and non-committed refrigerated freight orders from a designated and assigned customer base via a multitude of communication exchanges daily, commensurate with company and business level needs.  
  • Develops and maintains relationships with current and prospective customers based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, purchasing contacts or other sources.
  • Travels regularly nationally or internationally to call upon current and prospective customers to solicit orders or talk with customers by phone.
  • Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with other sales representatives.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares contracts for orders obtained.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer relationships to allow for the greatest opportunities in generating the highest level of refrigerated freight order volumes.
  • Tracks and traces all active orders for current on-time status and proactively contacts customers to provide them with shipment status. Seeks alternate solutions with customers in the event of a service deviation, including change of pick-up or delivery appointments.
  • Records and notates customer complaints regarding freight orders. Remedies customer complaints regarding SOAR Transportation's service to maximize customer satisfaction.  
  • Interfaces with operations personnel to advise them on any feedback provided by the customer relative to our service, product offerings or changes in their business levels.
  • Develops cold call strategies and then uses those strategies to solicit new customers.
  • Develops new customer relationships.
  • Maintains company, employee and customers confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Key Knowledge and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; College degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in the transportation industry.
  • 5+ years B2B refrigerated freight sales experience required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required. 
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment preferred.
