Position Summary
The Transportation Operations Manager will work on site at the Hyundai Motor Group
Manufacturing plant in Ellabell, GA and be responsible for all Yard activities. Working hand in
hand with Glovis and plant management to manage on-site activities which involve oversight of
a shunting / switching / local shuttle service to ensure routes are completed as required to
ensure 100% on-time delivery to the assembly line. This is a challenging and rewarding role that
requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
The Manager will oversee the essential functions of invoicing, driver settlements, and the
generation of operation reports. This position is responsible for analyzing operational data to
support strategic decision-making and ensure the profitability of operations through accurate
P&L reporting.


Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Management
Oversee all yard, shuttle, and switching operations with safety and efficiency as top
priorities.
Manage and coordinate inbound/outbound shipments, including customer-owned
returnable assets (carts, racks, dollies).
Ensure uninterrupted parts delivery to production lines in alignment with customer
build schedules.
Monitor and maintain yard inventory, trailer/container flow, and equipment usage.
Assign equipment and routes to drivers based on operational requirements; step in to
assist with shuttle moves in time-critical situations if necessary.
2. Safety & Compliance
Implement and enforce GET Freight safety guidelines and site-specific safety
procedures.
Conduct daily/weekly safety briefings and regular site audits.
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, CTPAT, and plant-level safety/security standards.
Supervise proper trailer/container securing and material handling practices.
3. People Leadership & Development
Supervise, train, and coach site supervisors, coordinators, and shuttle drivers.
Provide continuous feedback and conduct formal performance reviews.
Develop scalable processes and workforce capabilities to support future plant growth.
Promote a positive, safe, and high-performance team culture.
4. Customer & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary liaison with Glovis and Hyundai plant management.
Provide timely operational updates, resolve issues, and ensure service excellence.
Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and support plant launch/expansion
activities.
5. Financial & Reporting
Prepare and submit weekly invoices with supporting documentation.
Monitor P&L performance and ensure variances remain within tolerance levels.
Produce and analyze operational reports to support strategic decision-making.
Ensure accurate and timely driver settlements.
Track internal KPIs for safety, timeliness, and efficiency, and report results to leadership.
6. Facility & Equipment Management
Oversee yard cleanliness, orderliness, and compliance with site security standards.
Ensure proper maintenance and mechanical integrity of all shuttle and yard equipment.
Coordinate service providers for equipment repair and preventive maintenance
schedules.


Job Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
7 years direct transportation/logistics experience, 5 years indirect support experience
Minimum 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role
Preferred:
9 years direct, 7 years indirect transportation/logistics experience
5+ years in a managerial/supervisory role
CDL-A license with demonstrated shuttle/yard experience


Knowledge / Skills / Attitudes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and operational reporting
tools.
Proven experience managing trailer/container storage yards and shuttle operations.
Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a high-volume environment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong customer service mindset and collaborative approach.


Measurable Goals (KPI)
The Transportation Operations Manager will be evaluated on measurable performance
outcomes, including but not limited to:
1. On-Time Delivery Performance: 99% on-time shuttle and part delivery to assembly line.
2. Safety & Compliance: Zero DOT/OSHA recordable incidents; 95% completion of safety
training and audits.
3. Operational Efficiency: Reduce trailer/container idle time by 10% within first year;
maintain equipment uptime 97%.
4. Financial Accuracy: Weekly invoices 100% accurate and on-time; maintain P&L variances
within 2% of forecast.
5. People Management & Retention: Retention rate 90% annually; 100% completion of
scheduled performance reviews.
6. Customer Satisfaction: 95% satisfaction score on quarterly reviews from Glovis/plant
management.
