Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Transportation Coordinator to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of freight and shipments. Your expertise in transportation management systems, route planning, and communication will drive efficiency across our supply chain operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where organizational skills and proactive problem-solving are essential for success. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule road transportation operations, including dispatching trucks and managing freight movements using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as ALVYS and TRINIUM.
  • Utilize SAMSARA IFLEET and GPS technology to optimize routes, monitor vehicle locations, and improve delivery efficiency.
  • Manage internal communication channels to relay instructions, updates, and delivery schedules effectively across teams.
  • Handle shipping & receiving processes, ensuring accurate data entry, documentation, and compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
  • Oversee fleet management activities, including vehicle dispatching, maintenance scheduling, and tracking using fleet management tools.
  • Communicate with carriers, drivers, suppliers, and customers via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced customer service.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements while managing logistics operations.
  • Support logistics functions such as 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) coordination and freight management to streamline supply chain activities.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in transportation planning, road transportation operations, or logistics coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with GIS, GPS technology, vehicle dispatch software, and logistics tools such as SyteLine or AS400.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective internal communication and customer service via phone calls or written correspondence.
  • Ability to perform data entry accurately while maintaining attention to detail in shipping & receiving records.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations related to freight transport and vehicle operation safety standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) for reporting and analysis tasks.
  • Strong analysis skills to evaluate transportation metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Experience with freight management, fleet oversight, dispatching procedures, and shipping & receiving processes is highly desirable.
