We are looking for a Logistics Manager to join our manufacturing operation in Savannah, Georgia in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role will focus on strengthening transportation performance, improving freight efficiency, and supporting reliable delivery across the distribution network. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sound logistics judgment, and a collaborative approach to working with operations, customer-facing teams, supply chain partners, and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily transportation planning activities for inbound and outbound shipments across the domestic distribution network.
• Evaluate freight patterns, routing strategies, and carrier usage to improve service levels while controlling transportation spend.
• Build and maintain productive partnerships with carriers, brokers, and specialized transportation providers to support dependable capacity and service.
• Monitor carrier results through scorecards, service reviews, and performance metrics, and drive corrective actions when expectations are not met.
• Analyze logistics data such as delivery timeliness, freight cost trends, claims, damages, and equipment utilization to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support dedicated delivery programs and multi-stop truckload operations by recommending more efficient network and transit solutions.
• Work closely with operations, sales, customer service, supply chain, and IT teams to align transportation processes with business and customer needs.
• Contribute to logistics process enhancements, transportation system improvements, and operational optimization initiatives that increase efficiency and scalability.
• Assist in developing contingency plans that reduce disruption risk during capacity shortages, service failures, or other transportation challenges.
• Provide guidance and day-to-day support to logistics staff while reinforcing accountability, service quality, and continuous improvement.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, distribution, or supply chain analysis within a manufacturing or related environment.
• Strong knowledge of domestic freight operations, carrier management, routing practices, and transportation planning concepts.
• Ability to interpret logistics performance data and turn findings into practical cost, service, and process improvements.
• Proficiency with reporting tools, spreadsheets, and transportation or supply chain systems used for operational analysis.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, customer service, sales, supply chain, and IT functions.
• Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced distribution environment.
• Understanding of freight claims, service metrics, and carrier performance measurement methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
