Job description

In the Logistics Coordinator role, you will be responsible for managing multiple shipments and ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all necessary regulatory requirements. You will be expected to source, negotiate, and secure carriers to move freight in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate strong core carrier relationships while negotiating and securing carriers to move freight.

  • Coordinate and manage transportation services for Southland customers, including scheduling and dispatching of carriers.

  • Ensure proper and sufficient communication is provided as it relates to operational issues, potential issues, or any foreseen issues to account management.

  • Negotiate rates with carriers to ensure cost effective transportation solutions for Southland customers.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to transportation, including DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations.

  • Manage multiple shipments and ensure that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all necessary regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities, including shipment details, rates and carrier information.

  • Continuously monitor shipment progress to identify potential issues and develop solutions to resolve them.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients, carriers, and internal team members.

  • Ensure operating procedures and protocol are adhered to.

  • Ensure performance of the branch’s goals and objectives through individual goal success.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other duties, as assigned.

  • Be aggressively responsive to other company operating units and their needs.

  • Play a critical role in efforts to ensure service, focus, morale, teamwork, and positive culture is built and maintained within the branch.

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable rates and terms.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and manage relationships.

Education and Experience:

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
