Senior Global Freight & Logistics Specialist - Construction job at Solvenow Inc.. Kansas City, MO. Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead coordination of multi-modal transportation bookings and shipments, including standard freight and oversized loads, for domestic and international projects.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure seamless cross-border logistics.
  • Provide insights on shipping costs, logistics performance, and support management initiatives.
  • Source, negotiate, and maintain agreements with transportation and logistics service providers.
  • Assist with project planning by conducting transportation studies and obtaining budgetary pricing.
  • Develop and optimize project-specific logistics plans to support schedules and costโ€‘effective delivery of materials.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure timely and complete delivery.
  • Maintain clear communication with shippers, carriers, and consignees.
  • Recommend and implement new or enhanced logistics systems and processes.
  • Analyze carrier performance trends and implement costโ€‘containment strategies.
  • Conduct audits of freight invoices, resolve billing issues, and approve transportation service releases.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC processes, safety policies, and all company standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Logistics, or a related field with 7+ years of transportation and logistics management experience OR
  • Associate degree with 9+ years of experience OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 11+ years of experience.
  • Experience in transporting engineered or fabricated equipment for heavy industrial projects (oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, electrical transmission preferred).
  • Strong understanding of transportation contracts, import/export compliance, and international freight logistics.
  • Knowledge of CTL, HazMat, IATA, IMDG, DOT regulations, and Incoterms.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to meet company driving requirements.
