Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain Inbound Transportation Supervisor to oversee and optimize the inbound logistics operations within our supply chain network. This role is essential in coordinating transportation activities, managing inbound freight, and ensuring seamless integration with warehouse and distribution functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of transportation management systems, and a comprehensive understanding of supply chain processes. This position offers an opportunity to lead process improvements, drive efficiency, and contribute to the overall success of our logistics operations.


Duties:

  • Supervise daily inbound transportation activities, including scheduling, dispatching, and freight management to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) partners to optimize transportation routes and costs.
  • Monitor transportation performance metrics using supply chain analytics tools; identify areas for process improvement and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with procurement, demand planning, production planning, and warehouse teams to align inbound schedules with operational needs.
  • Manage transportation planning and freight procurement processes, including budgeting, cost analysis, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee inventory control related to inbound shipments; ensure accurate receipt, documentation, and warehouse distribution.
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems such as AS400 or equivalent, and warehouse management systems (WMS) to streamline operations.
  • Lead supervising efforts for shipping & receiving teams; ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Oversee fleet management activities including dispatching, fleet maintenance coordination, and driver supervision.
  • Ensure adherence to supply chain policies related to procurement, shipping & receiving, and inventory management.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in warehouse supervision combined with transportation management expertise.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles including logistics, distribution management, and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated ability in process management, process improvement methodologies such as Lean or continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Proficiency in transportation planning systems, ERP platforms like AS400 or similar systems, and supply chain analytics tools.
  • Experience working with 3PL providers, NVOCCs, freight forwarding, procurement processes, and fleet management.
  • Knowledge of budgeting practices along with demand planning and production scheduling.
  • Supervisory experience leading teams within warehouse or logistics environments.
  • Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes including shipping & receiving operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating across departments and external partners.
