Logistics/Warehouse Assistant


Job description:

We are an importer and global sourcing company supplying consumer products to our retailer customers (RTA furniture, seasonal dรฉcor, food, medical devices, and candy). We are looking for an experienced candidate to fill this position and to grow with our company.

  • Coordinate the import and domestic movement of cargo.
  • Prepare and distribute arrival notices timely to our customers. (Manual and using EDI).
  • Maintain documentation and records.
  • Data-entry.
  • Assist with and/or handle all aspects of importation of cargo as necessary.
  • Arrange Customs clearance with our brokers.
  • Provide customer support (to our customer service 800 number callers, emails and website)
  • Assist and handle general office administration.
  • Support warehouse operations (picking, packing, shipping)
  • Build pallets
  • Forklift and pallet jack use.
  • Manage inbound customer orders
  • Route collect orders via customerโ€™s transportation website
  • Route prepaid orders with nominated domestic partners
  • Manage import shipments into designated warehouse
  • Create packing lists and bills of lading as needed
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with two 3PL locations
  • Minor building maintenance, landscaping, and general cleaning.
  • Answering the office phone.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 75 lb.
  • Working knowledge of ERP system
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop and stand for long periods of time,
  • Stand up & sit down forklift experience & safety knowledge.


Requirements:

  • Knowledge of general freight forwarding terms, standards process and requirements.
  • 3 years of experience in general freight forwarding/logistics/importing is required.
  • Candidate must have good working knowledge of the various international transportation products, as well as general knowledge of U.S. Customs requirements. The individual should understand process flows and general accounting practices and procedures.
  • English is the principal language for this position. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) is required.
  • Excellent Customer Service, Phone & communication skills, accurate data entry experience, Knowledge of worldwide geography, Dependability, Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, Attention to detail and quality, etc.
