Job description

Summary of Position:
The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing all outbound shipping operations at Midwest Hose to ensure that customer orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional attention to detail, and effective coordination with inside sales, warehouse, and freight teams. The Shipping Manager plays a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction and supporting overall branch operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead daily shipping operations, including order pulling, staging, packaging, labeling, and loading.
  • Coordinate shipments through company trucks, LTL carriers, and third-party freight partners to ensure timely delivery.
  • Verify that all outbound paperwork—including Bills of Lading, packing slips, and manifests—is complete and accurate.
  • Manage, train, and evaluate shipping staff to maintain a high level of accuracy, productivity, and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales and Warehouse teams to confirm orders are fulfilled correctly and on time.
  • Track shipping costs and identify cost-saving or process improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain communication with freight carriers.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies or damaged freight in coordination with Operations.
  • Support implementation of process improvements to streamline operations and improve turnaround times.
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean, safe, and organized in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations; experience in the hose, fittings, or fluid transfer industry preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of freight logistics, LTL coordination, and shipping documentation.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (Trulinx preferred), Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs in adherence with Midwest Hose Safety Standards and work in warehouse conditions.
