Awesome Refrigerated Transit of Iowa is a growing transportation company dedicated to providing dependable, customer-focused freight solutions across the country.  We're looking for a motivated Freight Logistics Coordinator who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the challenge of coordinating freight, negotiating with carriers, and delivering exceptional customer service while keeping shipments moving efficiently.
Position SummaryThe Freight Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating freight movement and serving as the primary point of contact for customers, carriers, and drivers throughout the shipping process. This position is involved with daily transportation activities including dispatching, scheduling, tracking shipments, negotiating carrier rates, resolving transportation issues, and developing strong customer and carrier relationships. 
Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, sound judgment, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment. This position also participates in an on-call rotation and must be available by phone during assigned evenings and weekends.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Schedule loads while ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and location regulations.
  • Dispatch drivers based on customer needs and HOS limitations.
  • Build relationships with carriers by soliciting the capacity of trucks and freight, meeting cost/revenue expectations for each customer.
  • Create loads, set appointments for broker freight, track and trace loads, and troubleshoot problems that may occur.
  • Solicit new and existing customers for freight.
  • Use Load Boards to find backhauls.
  • Source carriers, negotiate rates, and sell freight to carriers.
  • Track shipments and provide updates to the customers daily.
  • Generate business leads.
  • Participate in scheduling trucks each week. 
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • HS diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, transportation, dispatch, logistics coordination, or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and transportation operations.
  • Strong customer service mindset with a focus on relationship building.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and transportation management systems.
  • Ability to build lasting relationships with customers, carriers, and coworkers.
  • Positive attitude with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Availability to participate in an evening and weekend on-call rotation.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to embrace change.
