What is a freezer order picker?

Freezer order pickers are warehouse workers responsible for locating, selecting, and preparing products stored in industrial freezers for customer orders. They work in cold storage environments, often wearing special clothing to handle low temperatures, and use equipment like pallet jacks or forklifts to move items. Their main duties include reading order slips, picking the correct products, and ensuring accuracy before items are shipped. Attention to detail and physical endurance are important in this role, as the job often involves lifting heavy items and working in freezing conditions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freezer order picker?

To thrive as a Freezer Order Picker, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and basic math skills, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), handheld scanners, and sometimes forklift certification is typically required. Reliability, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in cold environments are crucial soft skills. These abilities ensure accurate, timely order fulfillment and help maintain safety and productivity in demanding freezer warehouse conditions.

What are the biggest challenges faced by freezer order pickers, and how can they be managed?

Freezer Order Pickers often work in extremely cold environments, which can be physically demanding and require special attention to safety and comfort.
