Job description


Position: Cell Technician
Role: EDM Operator
Location: 330 Governors Highway, South Windsor, CT 06074
Company: Electro-Methods, a Stronvar Aerospace Company


Overview

The EDM Operator performs electrical discharge machining operations to produce precision aerospace components requiring tight tolerances and specialized finishing.

Within the Lean flow line, the EDM Operator supports continuous production flow by maintaining stable machining processes and ensuring dimensional accuracy. This role works closely with machining, Engineering, and Quality teams to maintain process capability and product quality.

This role supports:
• Creation of standard work
• Maintaining standard work
• Training and coaching of standard work
• Improvement of standard work


Key Responsibilities

• Operate wire EDM or sink EDM equipment.
• Set up electrodes and verify machine parameters.
• Monitor machining cycles and perform adjustments as required.
• Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy.
• Document production and inspection results.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safe operation.
• Operate other equipment in the cell as necessary to keep product flowing at takt.


Required Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating EDM equipment or related machining equipment.


Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications
• Aerospace machining experience.
• Understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs.

Work Environment
• Precision manufacturing environment with EDM equipment and electrical machining processes.
