Site Civil Team Lead Primary Responsibilities
HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Team Lead in the Madison, WI office and/or the Milwaukee, WI office to lead a team of Site Civil Engineers, EITs, and Designers with experience in complex engineering projects across our fastest growing market sector, Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT). The ideal candidate should have a proven background in successfully delivering various datacenter and mission critical projects ranging from upfront planning and pre-design activities through detail design, construction support and commissioning. The position is in our Building Engineering Services Design Center in our Madison and Milwaukee offices which is a full service, multi-disciplinary team including mechanical, electrical, structural and site civil engineers.
The primary duties of the Site Civil Team Lead are to provide the overall leadership to the team, identify growth opportunities through mentoring and training, coordinate the design work of Site Civil Engineers, EITs, and Designers working within a multi-disciplined, full service, A/E team throughout the entire project development, and create a collaborative and motivating team culture to promote design excellence across the practice. The responsibilities will also include being involved with supporting marketing and project pursuits, workplan development, quality control, recruiting, and team development. The individual must be highly motivated and will be the lead on multiple multi-disciplinary projects and may be called to manage projects that have a predominantly engineering focus.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Site Civil Engineer on multi-disciplined projects and a proficient writer with experience writing specifications, design narratives and supporting proposals.
In the role of Site Civil Team Lead, we'll count on you to:
  • Take responsibility for operations of production team including staff development,
    profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support
  • Take administrative responsibility for team staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections
  • Be involved in marketing planning as well as proposal scope and fee development
  • Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management systems
  • Implement, monitor and support company policies
  • Select, train, develop and manage technical and production personnel
  • Lead coordination with multidiscipline teams
  • Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, AutoCad, Civil 3D, HydroCad, and other civil engineering software as appropriate
