Job description

About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the Role

We are seeking a GRC/Compliance Engineer to join our Risk Management team and build the technical foundation for how we scale our compliance programs. In this role, you will design and implement automated workflows, data pipelines, and integrations that transform manual compliance processes into scalable engineering systems. You will evaluate and implement GRC solutions, build bridges between our Risk Management team and IT Operations, and leverage Claude to enable our compliance functions. This is a unique opportunity to establish patterns and architectures that will shape how Anthropic approaches governance, risk, and compliance as we grow. You'll work at the intersection of business technology, security, and compliance—translating regulatory requirements into technical implementations while ensuring our systems support rigorous audit programs including SOC 2, ISO, HIPAA, and FedRAMP.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain automated workflows for risk management and compliance processes that scale with Anthropic's growth, reducing manual effort and enabling continuous monitoring of our control environment
  • Develop data pipelines and analytics infrastructure that aggregate risk, control, and asset information from across our technology stack, providing real‑time visibility into our compliance posture through dashboards and reporting tools
  • Evaluate, select, and implement GRC platforms and tools, configuring and extending these systems to meet our specific compliance requirements and integrating them with our broader technical infrastructure
  • Build integrations connecting GRC tooling with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), identity management systems, HRIS platforms, ticketing systems, version control, and CI/CD pipelines to enable automated evidence collection and continuous compliance validation
  • Support audit and assessment programs by building automated evidence collection systems
Qualifications
  • Have 5-7 years of hands‑on experience in systems engineering, data engineering, software development, or related technical roles with demonstrated ability to build automated workflows and data pipelines
  • Have experience building integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, or similar technologies to connect disparate systems and enable data flow across platforms
  • Have experience with data warehousing or analytics platforms for building compliance reporting infrastructure
  • Can work independently with minimal guidance, taking ownership of complex technical problems from design through implementation while managing ambiguity inherent in early‑stage programs
  • Have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail necessary for compliance work balanced with pragmatism about risk‑based prioritization in fast‑paced environments
Strong candidates may have
  • Experience with GRC platforms such as ServiceNow GRC, Vanta, Drata, OneTrust, RSA Archer, or similar tools including configuration, customization, and integration capabilities
  • Possess strong programming skills in Python with experience writing clean, maintainable code and familiarity with software engineering best practices including version control (Git), testing, and documentation
  • Prior experience in high‑growth startup environments demonstrating ability to build scalable processes and adapt quickly to changing requirements and priorities
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and DevSecOps practices including CI/CD pipeline integration and policy‑as‑code implementations

Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be received on a rolling basis.

The expected base compensation for this position is below. Our total compensation package for full‑time employees includes equity, benefits, and may include incentive compensation.

Annual Salary: $300,000 — $320,000 USD

Logistics

Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

Benefits
