Job description

Your Impact
Video is one of the most powerful tools Axon has to communicate what we build and why it matters. From product launches and trade show activations to customer stories and executive keynotes, video content shapes how law enforcement agencies, city leaders, and the public understand our mission.
As a Director of Video Production, you will be the operational and creative force that gets that work made. You'll own projects from brief to delivery, managing internal creative talent, external contractors, production companies, and agency partners, while keeping budgets, timelines, and contracts on track. You're not behind the camera or in the edit suite. You're the person who makes sure the right people are, and that everything they produce reflects the Axon brand at its best.

What You'll Do
Location: Seattle, WA | Boston, MA | Scottsdale, AZ - In Person 4 days per week
Reports to: Executive Creative Director

Production Management

  • Own the full production lifecycle for a blend of planned campaigns, reactive projects and internal videos
  • Develop and manage project briefs, production schedules, shot lists, and delivery timelines in close collaboration with the Executive Creative Director and internal creative leads
  • Coordinate all logistics for shoots including location, permitting, travel, equipment, and crew, whether in-studio or in the field
  • Manage day-of production across shoots, serving as the primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders on set

Team and Vendor Management

  • Source, negotiate with, and manage freelance crew, editors, production companies, and agency partners on a project-by-project basis
  • Direct the work of Axon's internal editors and shooters, ensuring project clarity, creative alignment, and on-time delivery at every stage
  • Build and maintain a vetted roster of production contractors across cinematography, editing, motion graphics, audio, and post
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Axon and any law enforcement agencies or public safety partners involved in production

Budget and Contracts

  • Own production budgets from estimate through final reconciliation, tracking spend across internal resources, contractors, and vendors
  • Draft, manage, and execute contracts between Axon and production contractors, ensuring compliance with company procurement and legal standards
  • Manage location agreements, talent releases, and any production-related agreements with law enforcement agencies and community partners
  • Identify opportunities to increase production efficiency and reduce cost without sacrificing quality

Creative Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Executive Creative Director to ensure every project has a clear creative vision before production begins
  • Partner with marketing, product, sales, and communications stakeholders to align on objectives, messaging, and deliverables
  • Maintain brand consistency across all video output regardless of project size or format
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Axon's production infrastructure, workflows, and vendor relationships

Work Location
This role is based out of our Seattle, Boston, or Scottsdale location and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in video production, with a track record of producing projects from brief to delivery in a brand, agency, or in-house environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing crews, freelance contractors, and external production partners
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach to film production
  • Strong understanding of the full production process across pre-production, production, and post, even if your role has always been on the producing side
  • Experience managing production budgets and reconciling actuals against estimates
  • Familiarity with contract management, talent releases, and vendor agreements in a production context
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages simultaneously
  • Comfortable working across internal teams and external partners in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift
  • Alignment with Axon's values: ownership, candor, curiosity, and a commitment to building trust in service of our mission to Protect Life

Preferred

  • Experience producing content for B2B, government, public safety, or technology brands
  • Familiarity with trade show or experiential video production
  • Experience working with law enforcement agencies or other government entities in a production capacity
  • Working knowledge of AI video production and post-production tools and how they are reshaping production workflows

Benefits that Benefit You

  • Competitive salary and 401k with employer match
  • Discretionary paid time off
  • Paid parental leave for all
  • Medical, Dental, Vision plans
  • Fitness Programs
  • Emotional and Mental Wellness support
