FREELANCE USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER-REMOTE
Brella Productions ( www.brella.com ) a full service digital production company located in Evanston, IL. is seeking Freelance UX Designers to work with our Development department. As a freelance UX Designer you will take on the role of creating the product's logic. It's a process of deeply understanding the needs and objectives to design a system that offers both utility and value to the end user.
IN DEPTH SUMMARY
UX design skillset and expertise encompasses theories from a number of disciplines such as user interface design, usability, client-side development, research, information architecture, and Human Computer Interaction; spanning the entire user journey within a given product experience while also adhering to brand, design and accessibility standards.
UX REQUIREMENTS
  • Ethnography and discovery user goals, motivations, and work patterns
  • Requirement Analysis ability to deduce necessary information to develop scale of technical & functional expectations through conducting stakeholder and user interviews
  • Visual Communication be able to visually express hierarchy, grouping, and workflows for applications
  • Participatory Design inclusive of all users by aligning with WCAG guidelines (ex: how to design for accessibility, accommodating the needs of people with color-deficient vision and low vision)
  • Interaction Design translating information architecture into functional UI components, accounting for communication between interface elements, steps to complete tasks, animations, states, and nudges
  • Mastery of information design and ability to clearly express complex information
  • Information Architecture organizing user goals, responsibilities, and expectations within a product to reflect a navigable architecture/flow of potential pages, content, sections, & widgets intended to be suitable for creation and experience within a digital environment
  • Knowledge of principles of cognitive psychology & human computer interaction
  • User Interface Design component-level interaction principles and concepts, graphic user interface (GUI) screen layout and composition
  • Responsive Design understanding of bit-depth, pixel-density, and resolution issues. Scalable UI across multitude of devices and display sizes
  • Research techniques high-level market research for conducting & gathering user data
  • Product design or product-level interaction principles and concepts
  • Provide iconic representations of objects and actions, as well as other graphic elements
  • Able to present &/or question use-case scenarios for specific tasks, may help direct the work of others

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Understanding of basic programming principles, tools, and technologies
  • Understanding of software and hardware development processes specification, coding, and testing
  • Basic understanding of client-side development competent skill with HTML & CSS, high-level familiarity with JavaScript
  • GUI development principles, tools, and technologies
  • Rapid Prototyping InVision, Anima App, Flinto, Sketch, Adobe XD
  • Understands necessary steps to facilitate deliverables for production
  • Defines UI design choices by use case, purpose & data-driven approaches design for consistency with standards rather than creative expression
  • Work very closely with developers on a daily basis to continue assessing application requirements
  • Database principles, tools, and technologies *bonus

TEAM PLAYER REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Information Technology
  • 2+ Years of UX, Web, or Product Design experience
  • Works well in teams, ability to compromise, take criticism, and produces optimal revising skills based on feedback
  • Solution-oriented & maintains user advocacy throughout product journey
