Primary purpose:
Provides consulting, analytics, testing, training, and development services to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). Leverages advanced analytical skills and public-health knowledge to provide actionable insights for Lantana's clients.
A successful candidate will do the following:
  • Access and analyze complex data from various sources, manipulate datasets, and conduct statistical analyses
  • Perform regular and complex quality checks on data and analytic deliverables
  • Lead and own data cleaning and manipulation for tasks; implement automated solutions
  • Conduct analyses in Python and/or R; interpret, summarize, and present findings to relevant stakeholders, including technical, clinical, and product teams
  • Develop materials, review documentation, troubleshoot issues, and report results related to FHIR-EHR mapping, patient-identity matching, encounter reconciliation, and clinical-data standardization using HL7® FHIR® and other healthcare terminologies
  • Collaborate to plan, develop, and implement projects and materials
  • Communicate advanced analytic advice and statistical methodology to clients, management, and staff
  • Analyze and understand client needs and translate them into formal requirements
  • Provide results to the project team and clients both verbally and in writing, in technical language or plain language as appropriate for the audience
  • Test applications and provide feedback to software developers and quality-assurance technicians
  • Maintain expertise in public health and stay abreast of industry changes and trends
  • Develop trainings, project updates, and presentations on NHSN's work in antimicrobial use and resistance for clients, stakeholders, and partners

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, epidemiology, public health, or related field and at least nine (9) years of relevant experience; or master's degree and at least seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • Experience using Python and/or R to import data, manipulate data, and conduct analyses regarding evaluation of data quality and accuracy
  • Experience managing large datasets, moving and merging files from different platforms, cleaning and aggregating data, and performing quality control
  • Experience with quality-assurance testing or user-acceptance testing involving healthcare data
  • Attention to detail and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to successfully complete a federal Position of Public Trust Level 5 background investigation

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, mathematics, or related field
  • Experience with antimicrobial use, antimicrobial resistance, and/or Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) data
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with real-world analysis and mapping of HL7 FHIR resource, including normalization and standardization of clinical data
  • Knowledge of NHSN
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with big-data large dataset analysis, including matching patient identity across clinical systems, encounter reconciliation, longitudinal record construction, and cross-system data linkage and deduplication data reconciliation
