Senior IT Project Manager - Financial Systems
Location: New York, NY 10036 (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite per Week)
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead large-scale Financial Systems initiatives within a complex enterprise environment. This role is ideal for a results-driven project leader with a strong background managing end-to-end finance system implementations, upgrades, and migrations. The successful candidate will drive project execution, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project charters, integrated project plans, budgets, timelines, and resource forecasts.
- Lead cross-functional technical teams through the full project lifecycle, from initiation to deployment.
- Manage enterprise financial systems projects, ensuring compliance with architecture, governance, and quality standards.
- Utilize Planview or similar portfolio management tools for planning, tracking, reporting, and resource management.
- Execute projects using Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid methodologies based on business needs.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and project roadblocks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Provide executive-level status reporting, dashboards, risk assessments, and project updates.
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, IT, vendors, and business stakeholders to align project objectives and deliverables.
- Manage project scope, budget, resource allocation, and change control processes.
- Ensure successful testing, deployment, and transition of solutions into production support.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and document lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years of IT Project Management experience.
- Proven experience leading enterprise-level Finance Systems implementation, migration, or upgrade projects.
- Experience managing projects through at least five full end-to-end project lifecycles.
- Strong knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and experience managing hybrid project environments.
- Hands-on experience with Planview or similar enterprise project portfolio management tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the Insurance industry or other highly regulated financial services environments.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) and/or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification.
- Experience working within global or multinational organizations.
- Strong understanding of IT governance, change management, budgeting, and resource planning.
