What does a freelance project manager do?

A Freelance Project Manager is an independent professional who oversees and coordinates projects for clients on a contract basis. Their responsibilities include planning project timelines, managing budgets and resources, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring that project goals are met on time and within scope. Unlike in-house project managers, freelancers work with multiple clients and may handle projects across various industries. They offer flexibility and specialized expertise, making them valuable for organizations that need project support without hiring a full-time employee.

Can a freelance project manager work freelance?

A freelance project manager works independently, managing projects for clients on a contract basis without being employed by a single company. They typically set their own schedules, use project management tools, and may need relevant certifications like PMP or Scrum Master to attract clients. Freelance project managers can choose their workload and work remotely or on-site depending on client needs.

Are freelance project managers in demand?

Freelance project managers are in increasing demand across various industries due to the growth of remote work and project-based work environments. They often require strong organizational skills and familiarity with project management tools like MS Project or Asana, and their demand is expected to grow as organizations seek flexible staffing options.

What does a freelance project manager do?

A freelance project manager provides independent management services for a client or organization on a contract basis. Project manager positions are available in many fields, including software development and construction. Specific responsibilities vary based on the type of services a client offers, but the main goal of any freelance project manager is to oversee the completion of a project. This often includes assembling a team, setting goals and deadlines, and communicating with management about progress.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Project Manager, you need strong project management skills, organizational abilities, and often a relevant degree or certification such as PMP or PRINCE2. Familiarity with tools like Asana, Trello, Microsoft Project, and virtual collaboration platforms is typically required. Job description

Company description
Heartbeat is a full-service agency for healthcare Challenger Brands. Challengers are playing a high-stakes game-they must battle behemoth market leaders, upend ingrained treatment habits, or transform a "me-too" product into "yes-please."
The agency is known for serving up distinctive strategies and differentiating approaches, ensuring clients' market positions are uniquely owned. Heartbeat designs their organization around a 100% integration model, housing media, strategy, med comms, creative, technology, and even point of care/population health under the same roof for the tightest, most integrated campaigns possible. They price work based on outcomes, not outputs. Their innovative model delivers not only alignment, but powerful orchestration, greater efficiency, and maximum impact for every dollar spent-all the necessary elements for Challengers to triumph.
That's the philosophy, here's the creds: 250+ employees between NYC & LA; 6 agency leaders with decades of tenure; a pile of awards from the likes of the Mannys, MM&M Awards, OMMAs, and Clios; an industry-leading commitment to diversity and inclusion (with a Med Ad News D&I Champion nod to match); and a President who dared to be quoted as saying, "We celebrate people who stand up and say, 'You know what? This is dumb.' Damn straight.
Overview
The Project Manager is ultimately responsible for quality delivery of their projects within the agency. But it's not a lone-wolf kind of job, and Project Managers partner with other teams in the agency to ensure that we have found just the right balance in client and agency economics. Part of the job is a deep understanding and respect for agency process, coupled with the ability to be nimble and flexible. All of this is done with guidance and mentorship to help you grow in your career.
If you want to make things happen, and work on killer team of like-minded individuals, this just might be your next job.
Responsibilities
Day to Day Responsibilities include:
  • Prepare and collaborate on SOW creation
  • Manage budgets and estimates for medium sized projects
  • Create, manages and adjusts timelines when necessary
  • Manages vendor relationship.
  • Partner with and build relationships with Account and Creative teams
  • Ensures client and internal teams are up to date on project status
  • Deliver projects on time and in budget

Qualifications
About You:
  • You are tenacious and won't take no for an answer
  • You're solution oriented and have a flexible work approach.
  • You're a strong verbal and written communicator.
  • You are generous, purposeful, innovative, fearless and authentic.
  • You're interested in learning new technologies.
  • You have 1-2 years' experience as a Project Manager.
