Data Analysts may have broader roles involving data collection, cleaning, and analysis, often within organizations. Both roles require analytical skills, but Freelance Power Bi Analysts specialize in Power BI tools and visualization, making them ideal for project-based work.
Build executive ready Power BI dashboards and reports that transform complex operational data into clear insights for leadership and operations teams.
Develop robust data models using best practice structures including star schema and well defined relationships.
Create advanced DAX measures and calculations that support KPI driven reporting across operations.
Work closely with business stakeholders and data engineering teams to define requirements, validate data, and ensure reporting aligns with operational processes.
Use SQL and Azure Databricks to collaborate effectively on data pipelines and data model development.
Connect to multiple data sources through Power Query Editor including SQL, Excel, and web based inputs.
Apply understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes to support reliable and scalable reporting.
Explore emerging BI and AI capabilities such as Copilot and automated insights to enhance reporting quality and user experience.
Bachelor degree in Business, Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience considered.
At least five years of hands on Power BI development including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard design.
Experience working with large operational data sets and KPI driven reporting.
Familiarity with SQL Server scripting and Azure Databricks.
Experience using Power Query Editor to connect to multiple data sources.
Proven success working in cross functional environments with business teams and data engineering groups.
Background supporting refining, energy, or manufacturing operations.
Working knowledge of operational KPIs including margins, throughput, yields, and performance metrics.
Basic Power BI administration knowledge.
Exposure to AI driven analytics or modern BI capabilities.
