What is a freelance planner?

Freelance planners are independent professionals who help individuals or organizations plan and coordinate events, projects, or schedules. Unlike in-house planners, freelancers work on a contract or project basis, providing flexible and specialized services tailored to each client’s needs. Their responsibilities may include budgeting, scheduling, logistics, and vendor management, depending on the project. Freelance planners often work in areas such as event planning, urban planning, or business strategy.

How do freelance planners typically find and manage multiple clients while maintaining a balanced workload?

Freelance Planners often use a mix of networking, referrals, and online platforms to find new clients. Managing multiple projects requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize deadlines effectively. Many use project management tools to track progress and communicate with clients, ensuring clear expectations and timely delivery. Balancing workload also involves setting clear boundaries and realistic timelines to avoid overcommitting. Collaboration often takes place remotely, requiring proactive communication to keep all stakeholders informed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance planner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Planner, you need strong organizational skills, project management abilities, and relevant experience or education in planning. Familiarity with planning software, productivity tools, and sometimes certifications like PMP or event planning credentials can be valuable. Excellent communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for managing diverse clients and projects independently. These skills ensure effective project execution, client satisfaction, and the ability to navigate the dynamic nature of freelance work.

What is the difference between Freelance Planner vs Event Coordinator?

AspectFreelance PlannerEvent Coordinator
CredentialsProject management skills, industry-specific knowledgeEvent planning certifications, communication skills
Work EnvironmentIndependent, remote or on-site, project-basedOn-site at event venues, office settings
Employer/Industry UsageFreelance, consulting firms, event planning agenciesEvent companies, hotels, corporate clients

While both roles involve planning and coordination, a Freelance Planner typically works independently on various projects, focusing on logistics and project management. An Event Coordinator usually works within organizations or agencies, managing specific events from start to finish. The key difference lies in their work setting and client engagement, with Freelance Planners offering flexible, project-based services and Event Coordinators working within a team environment for specific events.

Fine'ry Mens is seeking a dynamic, Social Media + Content Freelancer to create engaging, culturally relevant content that connects with today's male consumer. This is a freelance contract role (hybrid or remote) ideal for a creator who lives and breathes social media, understands men's lifestyle and grooming culture, and knows how to translate trends into content that drives conversation and brand affinity.

The ideal candidate will serve as both the creative force behind the content and the on-camera personality, bringing Fine'ry Mens fragrances and grooming products to life across Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms as relevant.

The Social Media + Content Freelancer will report to the Manager, Integrated Marketing. This is a freelance, part-time role requiring approximately 25 hours per week.

Pay Range: $25-$35/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of monthly social content, partnering with the in-house creative studio to concept, brief, and produce 20-25 Instagram feed assets and 10-15 Instagram Stories per month, ensuring content aligns with brand priorities, social trends, and performance insights.
  • Serve as the on-camera face for content across social channels.
  • Create, shoot, and edit high-quality short-form video content optimized for Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant platforms.
  • Develop content that authentically resonates with male audiences across fragrance, grooming, lifestyle, sports, fashion, and culture.
  • Collaborate with the Fine'ry Mens team to execute content briefs, campaigns, and creator-led concepts.
  • Stay ahead of emerging social trends, creator formats, memes, and platform best practices.
  • Deliver polished, engaging content that drives awareness, engagement, and community growth.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience creating social-first content for brands, agencies, or personal creator channels.
  • Strong understanding of male audiences and the evolving men's social media landscape.
  • Comfortable and confident appearing on camera with a relatable, authentic presence.
  • Skilled in all aspects of content creation, including filming, editing, and post-production.
  • Deep understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and emerging social platforms.
  • Ability to identify and capitalize on cultural moments, trends, and creator behaviors relevant to men's audiences.
  • Strong storytelling, communication, and creative ideation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple content projects simultaneously.
  • Experience within men's grooming, fragrance, personal care, fashion, or lifestyle brands is preferred but not required.

Application Requirements

Candidates must submit examples of relevant content creation work to be considered. Please include samples that demonstrate your ability to concept, produce, edit, and appear in social video content.

Bonus points for content that showcases an understanding of men's lifestyle, grooming, fragrance, fashion, sports, or culture.
