A freelance network engineer is an independent contractor that works with local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other types of networks. You offer support and network security solutions, and you can work with individuals, businesses, and organizations that use those networks. Your responsibilities are to design network solutions for your clients and configure the computers and equipment on the network. You also create network configuration backups, optimize the system for your clients’ needs, and offer support for clients who experience network issues. As a freelancer, you can work with multiple clients, carrying out your duties on a flexible schedule with a mix of remote and on-site work.
