Oracle Goldengate Cluster Engineer
Raleigh, NC
Fulltime
We are seeking an experienced Oracle GoldenGate Cluster Engineer to design, configure, and implement highly available Oracle GoldenGate environments on Linux platforms. The engineer will be responsible for cluster setup, GoldenGate installation, database replication configuration, migration support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and data consistency across heterogeneous database platforms.
The role requires strong hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate, Linux clustering, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and IBM Db2, including active-active and continuous replication solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Oracle GoldenGate Installation and Configuration
Install and configure Oracle GoldenGate on Linux-based clustered environments.
Set up GoldenGate deployments, service managers, administration services, distribution services, receiver services, and performance metrics services, as applicable.
Configure GoldenGate Extract, Data Pump, Replicat, trail files, checkpoint tables, and credential stores.
Configure Integrated Extract and Integrated Replicat processes for Oracle databases.
Implement secure communication, authentication, encryption, and access controls between source and target environments.
Apply GoldenGate patches and perform version upgrades in coordination with database and infrastructure teams.
Heterogeneous Database Replication
Configure Oracle GoldenGate replication solutions for the following database platforms:
Oracle Database
Enterprise PostgreSQL
Microsoft SQL Server
IBM Db2
Responsibilities include:
Assessing source and target database compatibility.
Designing replication topology based on business and technical requirements.
Configuring database prerequisites, supplemental logging, archive logging, transaction log access, database users, privileges, and network connectivity.

Conduct failover, failback, resilience, and recovery testing.
Document active-active operational procedures and support requirements.
Enterprise PostgreSQL Active-Active Replication
Design and configure active-active replication for Enterprise PostgreSQL environments using Oracle GoldenGate.
Configure bidirectional data replication across PostgreSQL database instances.
Implement transaction filtering, loop prevention, and conflict-handling mechanisms.
Configure database keys, sequences, and identity-generation strategies to avoid data collisions.
Monitor replication health, latency, throughput, and transaction backlogs.
Develop procedures for error handling, data reconciliation, and replication recovery.
Validate active-active replication under planned and unplanned outage scenarios.
Monitoring and Error Correction
Implement centralized monitoring for GoldenGate processes and clustered components.
Monitor Extract and Replicat status, checkpoint progress, trail-file usage, transaction latency, network connectivity, and replication lag.

Linux Cluster Configuration
Good u nderstanding on highly available Linux clusters for Oracle GoldenGate deployment.
Configure cluster nodes, shared storage, virtual IP addresses, network connectivity, and failover mechanisms.
Integrate Oracle GoldenGate processes with the cluster resource manager.
Configure automatic failover and restart of GoldenGate services during node or service failures.
Validate cluster failover, failback, service relocation, and disaster recovery scenarios.
Develop operational procedures for cluster maintenance, patching, recovery, and troubleshooting.
Required Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
Experience deploying Oracle GoldenGate in Linux clustered or high-availability environments.
Strong knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate Microservices Architecture.
Experience with Extract, Data Pump, Replicat, trail files, checkpoint tables, and credential stores.
Experience configuring active-active and bidirectional replication.
Experience with heterogeneous replication involving:
o Oracle Database
o Enterprise PostgreSQL
o Microsoft SQL Server
o IBM Db2
Strong Linux administration and shell scripting skills.
Knowledge of Linux cluster technologies and high-availability concepts.
Experience with database migration and continuous data replication.

Experience with data conflict detection, resolution, reconciliation, and error correction.
Knowledge of network configuration, DNS, virtual IPs, firewalls, ports, certificates, and secure connectivity.
Experience with replication performance tuning, latency analysis, and capacity planning.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting GoldenGate environments in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
Experience with Oracle RAC and Data Guard environments.
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Linux clustering.
Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
Experience integrating GoldenGate monitoring with enterprise monitoring and ITSM platforms.
