What is a freelance marketing contract?

A freelance marketing contract is a formal agreement between a business or individual and a freelance marketer that outlines the terms of a marketing project or ongoing marketing services. This contract typically includes details such as the scope of work, payment terms, deadlines, confidentiality clauses, and ownership of deliverables. Having a clear contract helps both parties understand their responsibilities, protects their interests, and minimizes misunderstandings. It's essential for freelancers to have a signed contract before starting any marketing work to ensure they are compensated fairly and on time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance marketing contractor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Marketing Contractor, you need a solid understanding of marketing principles, digital strategy, and content creation, often supported by experience or a degree in marketing or communications. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, social media platforms, email marketing software, and CRM systems is typically required. Strong project management, self-motivation, and client communication skills help you stand out in managing multiple projects and building client relationships. These skills ensure you can deliver measurable results, maintain client satisfaction, and adapt to varied marketing needs in a competitive freelance environment.

What are some common challenges freelance marketing contractors face when working with multiple clients simultaneously?

Freelance marketing contractors often juggle several projects at once, which can make time management and task prioritization challenging. Balancing different client expectations, communication styles, and deadlines requires strong organizational skills and proactive communication. Additionally, adapting marketing strategies to suit various industries or brand voices can be demanding, but it provides valuable experience and professional growth. Establishing clear contracts and boundaries upfront also helps prevent scope creep and ensures smoother collaborations.

This is a part-time contract role (approximately 10-15 hours per week) designed for someone looking for ongoing, flexible work rather than a full-time position. Following application review and a short interview process, the position would start immediately.
As our Marketing Web Developer, you'll be the go-to person when a page needs to launch before a campaign, a form breaks ahead of a webinar, or our website needs a refresh. You'll work closely with our Demand Generation and Marketing teams while operating independently-we're looking for someone who can take a rough idea or request and run with it (assets and design guidelines will be provided).
This is a contract-based 1099 Independent Contractor position. Paid at an hourly rate as agreed upon in the Independent Contractor Agreement - range: $30-35 per hour depending on directly related experience and credentials.
Contractors are responsible for:
  • their own taxes, insurance and expenses.
  • their own work tools, equipment and basic business software necessary to complete the expected goals and outcomes.

The contractor will submit regular electronic invoices at the frequency and rate as stipulated in the contract.
Location Requirement: Physically based and operating within the United States.
Contract Eligibility & Requirements:
  • Compliance & Security: To fulfill our data privacy protocols and client security regulations, the contractor must be physically located within the United States.
  • Tax Status: This is a 1099-NEC engagement. The contractor must be a registered U.S. business entity or a U.S. taxpayer capable of providing an IRS Form W-9.
  • Operational Alignment: Deliverables and collaborative sessions must align with standard U.S. business hours (e.g., Eastern or Pacific Time Zone)."

What you'll do:
Site Build & Maintenance
  • Build and launch new pages in WordPress using Elementor, matching existing design patterns and brand standards
  • Maintain site health - plugin and theme updates, performance checks, backups, and general upkeep
  • Work in staging environments and follow our rollback process before anything ships to production
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, broken layouts, and functionality issues as they come up

UI/UX & Conversion Support
  • Identify and fix UI/UX issues that get in the way of traffic acquisition or conversion
  • Partner with marketing to implement design and layout changes aimed at improving on-page conversion rates
  • Bring a working knowledge of responsive design and cross-browser/device testing to every build

Marketing Integrations
  • Support HubSpot-connected forms and landing pages, ensuring submissions, tracking, and routing work as intended
  • Troubleshoot integration issues between WordPress and HubSpot as they surface
  • Help stand up or maintain campaign landing pages, including occasional work in Unbounce

Who You Are:
  • You have a strong eye for UI/UX and know how to translate that into clean, intuitive, user-friendly pages.
  • You're comfortable working independently, managing your own time, and proactively communicating as a remote contractor.
  • You're responsive, reliable, and able to take a rough request and run with it.
  • You're looking for an ongoing, part-time engagement and can be available during business hours when needed.

Requirements:
  • Hands-on, proven experience building and maintaining websites in WordPress.
  • Strong Elementor experience-this is a must-have.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, with the ability to hand-code fixes when Elementor can't handle them.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, particularly forms, landing pages, and how they connect to a broader marketing stack.
  • Bonus: Experience with Unbounce.
