Job description

Senior Manager, Brand Voice & Creative

Location: Lake Mary, FL (Hybrid)
Department: Brand & Digital Growth
Status: Full-Time | Exempt

About The IIA

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is the global leader and recognized authority for the internal audit profession. We are dedicated to advancing the profession worldwide through education, advocacy, certifications, and professional resources. Guided by our values of People First, Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation, we provide a collaborative, purpose-driven workplace where employees can grow professionally while making a global impact.

Why Join The IIA?
  • Make a global impact by advancing the internal audit profession.
  • Work in a collaborative, values-driven culture.
  • Be part of an organization that values innovation and continuous learning.
  • Grow your career while contributing to meaningful work that strengthens organizations around the world.
  • Join a team committed to integrity, accountability, and putting people first.
Position Summary

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Brand Voice & Creative to define, write, and lead the execution of The IIA's brand voice across every channel. This is a hands-on creative leadership role for someone who thinks and leads through language first — building the brand voice architecture that makes The IIA instantly recognizable, and leading the writers, designers, and videographers who bring it to life.

As Senior Manager, Brand Voice & Creative, you will personally write and edit flagship copy, build and maintain the brand's voice and messaging architecture, and lead a multidisciplinary creative team. You will also extend that voice into demand-generation and lifecycle work — personalized email journeys, sales funnel messaging, lead-generation content, and account-based marketing campaigns — ensuring The IIA sounds like The IIA everywhere it shows up, not just in brand campaigns.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based in Lake Mary, Florida, combining in-office collaboration with remote work.

What You'll Do
  • Define, document, and evolve The IIA's brand voice and messaging architecture, and train teams and agencies to write in it consistently.
  • Personally write and edit high-impact copy — campaign platforms, brand narratives, executive messaging, and other flagship work.
  • Lead and grow a multidisciplinary creative team, including copywriters, designers, and videographers, setting the standard for craft and consistency.
  • Extend brand voice into demand-generation and lifecycle marketing: personalized email journeys, sales funnel messaging, lead-generation content, and account-based marketing campaigns.
  • Translate market trends, stakeholder insight, and competitive intelligence into brand positioning, narrative, and creative direction.
  • Develop and review creative briefs, messaging frameworks, and campaign concepts to ensure strategic alignment and creative excellence.
  • Manage creative operations, including agency and freelance partnerships, briefing processes, review cycles, and asset management.
  • Establish brand governance and measurement frameworks to evaluate brand and content performance.
  • Present brand and creative recommendations to executive leadership.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 8+ years in creative leadership where writing was central to the role — brand voice lead, copy director, editorial director, or similar.
  • A portfolio of original copywriting and brand voice work — not design or PR case studies.
  • A track record of building brand voice architecture: tone-of-voice guides, messaging frameworks, and voice training for non-writers.
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary creative team, including writers, designers, and video/production talent.
  • Experience writing for demand generation, including personalized email journeys, sales funnel messaging, lead-generation campaigns, and account-based marketing.
  • Strong creative judgment and experience presenting creative and brand recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Experience managing agency and freelance partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with membership organizations, associations, credentialing bodies, or mission-driven global brands.
  • Experience leading brand voice development during a rebrand or brand modernization effort.
  • Familiarity with marketing technology, CRM/email platforms (e.g., Marketo, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud), and campaign personalization tools.
  • Experience with SEO, audience segmentation, and omnichannel content strategy.
  • Portfolio or examples of work demonstrating strength in brand voice, copywriting, messaging, campaigns, or creative storytelling.
Equal Opportunity Employer

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where all employees are treated with dignity and respect. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
