Reports To: Plant Manager


Position Summary

R-Tech Tool amp; Machine is seeking a hands-on Machine Shop Manager to lead daily execution in our CNC machining environment. This role owns shop-floor leadership, productivity enforcement, quality accountability, and downtime resolution.

This role is expected to be highly visible in the shop, actively directing work and driving measurable improvements in utilization and throughput.
This is not an office-only role.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily machine shop operations and workflow prioritization.

  • Enforce productivity standards and execution discipline.

  • Establish leader standard work, including walk-throughs, quality checks, and labor verification.

  • Ensure accurate job clock-ins and labor tracking in coordination with HR.

  • Drive cross-training to improve labor flexibility.

  • Own downtime escalation with maintenance, tooling vendors, and machine suppliers.

  • Enforce quality expectations through in-process checks and corrective action.

  • Coach and develop machinists and team leads.

  • Provide leadership consistency across day and night shifts.

  • Track utilization, throughput, downtime, and rework metrics.

  • Promote and enforce safety expectations.


Education amp; Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required

  • Post-secondary technical education, apprenticeship training, or equivalent CNC machining experience preferred.

  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.


Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience with leadership or supervisory responsibility.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across machining, tooling, and setups.

  • Proven ability to enforce accountability and drive performance.

  • Comfortable working directly on the shop floor.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Mazak or similar CNC platforms.

  • Prior role as Shop Supervisor or Machine Shop Manager.

  • Lean manufacturing or 5S experience.

  • Lead by example in safety and professionalism.

  • May be required to support day and night shift coverage as needed.
