Job description

Our client is a dynamic design studio that partners with high-profile clients including Nike, LEGO, and Google. They create immersive brand experiences from initial concept through final installation.

As the team continues to grow, they are seeking a Lead Spatial Designer to lead client conversations, shape and communicate design capabilities, and provide guidance and support to the broader design team.

  • Location: Camden, NJ (relocation package offered)
  • Schedule: 3 days in office, 2 remote
What You’ll Do
  • Spend approximately 70% of your time producing build-ready design work, including floor plans, form studies, material and finish direction, build-intent briefs, technical drawings, and 3D models.
  • Translate client concepts and project briefs into clear, practical design solutions for engineering, fabrication, and production teams.
  • Spend approximately 30% of your time leading design-focused pitches: developing pitch decks, presenting concepts to clients, and helping win new business.
  • Bring design expertise into client conversations alongside growth and project-management partners.
  • Develop original spatial concepts, visual treatments, renderings, and presentation materials for proposals and active projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers to align creative direction with scope, schedule, budget, materials, labor, and production requirements.
  • Introduce strong creative processes, design standards, and working habits that help the team deliver consistently high-quality work.
What You Bring
  • Experience in experiential, retail, exhibition, activation, or spatial design environments.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates both hands-on technical design work and polished, client-facing creative presentations.
  • Confidence creating and explaining design concepts to clients, including leading pitch discussions and presenting decks.
  • Working knowledge of project budgets, fabrication considerations, materials, labor, and production constraints.
  • Strong visual judgment, communication skills, and an ability to balance creative ambition with executional detail.
  • Experience building or mentoring design teams and coordinating freelance creative resources is preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Fusion and Rhinoceros is a plus, but not required.
  • Industry knowledge, sound judgment, collaborative working style, and cultural fit are prioritized over any single technical qualification.
  • Experience from experiential design studios or polished creative agencies is especially valued, particularly where you have helped establish strong processes and design discipline.
