To excel as a Freelance Junior Full Stack Developer, you need solid knowledge of both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python) technologies, often supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp experience. Familiarity with frameworks like React or Angular, version control systems like Git, and cloud platforms such as AWS, as well as a portfolio or GitHub profile, are typically expected. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective communication help you manage client expectations and collaborate remotely. Job description

Why You're Here
We've launched our public beta with a strong foundation-multiplayer infrastructure, a node-based canvas, and dozens of AI integrations-and we're growing fast.
You'll join early as our Junior Full Stack Engineer, working alongside our team to help ship features, improve performance, and learn the systems that power an AI-native creative platform.
This role is perfect for someone who's built projects end-to-end, loves learning new tools, and wants to grow into a senior engineering position on a product that merges art, design, and technology.
What You'll Do
  • Contribute to feature development across the stack
  • Implement UI components and user interactions in React + TypeScript
  • Support backend endpoints, data models, and APIs
  • Test, debug, and improve performance for real-time workflows
  • Learn from senior engineers while developing ownership over key areas

Must-Have Competencies
  • 1-3 years of experience (or equivalent personal projects) in full-stack or front-end development
  • Proficiency in React + TypeScript
  • Familiarity with Node, tRPC, or similar frameworks
  • Curiosity about distributed systems or creative/AI tools
  • Understanding of web fundamentals and component architecture
  • Eagerness to learn, iterate, and grow within a small, fast-moving team

Nice-to-Have Competencies
  • Experience with canvas or node-based tools (React Flow, Blender, WebGPU)
  • Familiarity with creative or AI-driven software
  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Background or interest in art, design, music, or creative tech

Our Stack
Frontend: React 19, TypeScript, React Router v7, Zustand, TanStack Query, @xyflow/react, React Aria Components, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, React Three Fiber
Backend: tRPC, Hono, Cloudflare Workers, PostgreSQL (Supabase), Durable Objects, Drizzle ORM, Cloudflare D1, Better Auth, Stripe, AI SDK
Infrastructure: Cloudflare Workers, KV, D1, Hyperdrive, Cron Triggers, Turborepo, pnpm, Node.js 22+
Observability & Tooling: Vite, ESLint, Prettier, Husky, Zod, Sentry, PostHog
How We Work
  • Hybrid, flexible, async-friendly - based in LA with 2 in-office days each week.
  • Creative-first culture - we care about accessibility, design, and feel.
  • High trust, high standards - ownership early, autonomy always.
  • Small team, big impact - every commit shapes the future of the product.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $70K-$90K USD depending on experience (equity included)
  • Healthcare, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Flexible hours and focus on deep work
  • Generous equity and real product ownership
  • Mentorship and leadership growth as we scale

How We Interview
  1. Intro Call - Meet one or two of us to talk about your background, our mission, and how we work.
  2. Technical Conversation - Complete a live technical assessment based on a real-world problem followed by a discussion on your approach to architecture, problem-solving, and building for usability.
  3. Technical Take-home - A scoped technical project with compensation
  4. Team Conversation - Meet with core team and have a discussion about collaboration, culture, and long-term vision.

We welcome candidates who may not have the "right" title but have the skills, mindset, and drive to thrive here.
