Job description

Bednark Studio is seeking experienced Freelance Installers and Carpenters to join our Freelance Call List. We are looking for skilled craftspeople to support the installation of custom built environments for experiential marketing, retail activations, events, staging, and branded environments.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced installers looking to supplement their schedule with project based work. Installations are typically scheduled approximately two weeks in advance whenever possible, although timing may vary based on project needs. Some weeks may not have work available.
Many installations take place during evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays.
As an Onsite Installer, you will work alongside our Project Managers and Install Leads to complete high-quality installations safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Responsibilities include:
  • Install custom built elements with precision, efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Support daily site operations to help keep projects on schedule.
  • Troubleshoot installation challenges with the Project Manager and Install Lead.
  • Load, transport, and organize tools, equipment, and installation materials.
  • Read and follow plans, blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches.
  • Take direction from the Install Lead while demonstrating initiative when appropriate.
  • Communicate professionally with teammates, clients, venue staff, and other contractors.
  • Provide installation updates and site photos throughout the day.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site while following all safety requirements and PPE guidelines.
  • Confirm crew hours and provide feedback on site performance when requested.
  • Attend site visits, walkthroughs, and pre-install meetings as needed.
  • Act with professionalism, adaptability, and a solution-focused attitude.

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Two to five years of onsite install experience.
  • Experience in carpentry, construction, event fabrication, retail displays, scenic production, theatrical production, or experiential installations.
  • Strong proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and shop sketches.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in fast paced environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a professional work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Comfort using smartphones, tablets, and job site communication applications.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of job site conditions.

Scheduling and Availability:
This is a freelance, project based opportunity.

Ideal candidates have availability for:
  • Weekday installations.
  • Evening and overnight installations.
  • Weekend work.
  • Occasional holiday work.
  • Local travel to job sites.

Install opportunities are offered based on project needs, and work volume will vary throughout the year.
