Job description

Our client, a leading financial and media company, is seeking an Event Manager (contract, maternity leave cover) to join their Global Marketing team. This role will be responsible for the planning, management, and execution of business unit events, connecting regional and global teams to deliver a strategic, data-driven approach to event experiences across business, government, and philanthropic audiences. The ideal candidate has a passion for event planning and systems, with the versatility and attention to detail to manage multiple workstreams at once.
  • This is a freelance role starting around 9/1/2026 and running through 4/2/2027. Potential for this contract to extent past the end date. Pay rate range is from $50-57/hour. Onsite requirement (4 days in NYC).

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute sales and marketing event programs for assigned business units, leveraging internal event execution tools, programs, and infrastructure.
  • Implement event processes, standards, and measurement frameworks across all events.
  • Collaborate with marketing program managers to ensure successful deployment and integration of events with external partners, including government agencies, conference organizers, and key associations.
  • Lead the creative process for events, including invitations, in-person and virtual production, and audio-visual requirements.
  • Bring customized, out-of-the-box ideas and solutions to event experiences that communicate key brand messages.
  • Lead cross-functional projects with multiple partners across different geographies and business units, from inception through delivery.
  • Manage event budgets, negotiate with vendors, and ensure timely payments and reconciliations.
  • Project manage virtual events, including on-demand webcasts and live webinars.
  • Make sound, independent decisions consistent with business priorities, while working efficiently under tight deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in event or experiential planning.
  • Highly articulate and polished, with the ability to present confidently to all levels of management.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work flexibly under tight deadlines.
  • Experience integrating events into broader marketing campaigns, with an understanding of how events fit within an integrated marketing communications framework.
  • Ability to work successfully and efficiently with minimal supervision, while seeking and taking direction appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of working effectively in a team environment.
  • Track record of success working in and influencing a fast-paced, fast-growing global organization.
  • High energy, problem-solving mindset, and a proactive, results-oriented approach with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence internal and external partners toward successful outcomes.
