Location: Houston, TX

Visa: Any

Interview Process: Video (2 Rounds)

Work Schedule: 100% Remote

Job Description:

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Geospatial Data Architect Consultant to lead the design and evolution of enterprise geospatial data solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in geospatial technologies, data architecture, LiDAR and satellite imagery processing, and integration of multiple spatial data sources. This is a strategic consulting role focused on architecture, solution design, and advising business stakeholders rather than hands-on development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect enterprise geospatial data models and solutions.

  • Assess and modernize existing geospatial data architectures and workflows.

  • Define best practices for storing, processing, managing, and visualizing geospatial data.

  • Architect solutions for integrating multiple geospatial data sources, including:

    • LiDAR datasets

    • Satellite imagery

    • Shape files

    • CAD-based datasets (TLS CAD, PLS-CADD)

    • Other structured and unstructured spatial data sources

  • Provide guidance on converting and integrating traditional two-dimensional data into geospatially enabled systems.

  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend scalable architecture solutions.

  • Define data engineering approaches for geospatial data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics.

  • Evaluate emerging geospatial technologies and recommend enhancements to improve data quality, accessibility, and business value.

  • Develop architectural roadmaps and implementation strategies for geospatial initiatives.

  • Present industry best practices, lessons learned, and successful geospatial use cases.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, GIS, or Geospatial Engineering.

  • Strong experience designing enterprise geospatial data architectures.

  • Hands-on experience working with:

    • LiDAR data

    • Satellite imagery

    • Shape files and spatial datasets

    • Spatial databases and geospatial data models

    • Data engineering and integration frameworks

  • Experience integrating multiple geospatial and non-geospatial data sources.

  • Strong understanding of geospatial data lifecycle management, governance, and scalability.

  • Knowledge of CAD-based utility or infrastructure models, including TLS CAD and PLS-CADD.

  • Ability to communicate architectural concepts to technical and business audiences.

  • Proven ability to lead architecture discussions and recommend strategic solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in utility, energy, telecommunications, or infrastructure industries.

  • Knowledge of modern GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Enterprise and related geospatial ecosystems.

  • Experience with cloud-based geospatial architectures.

  • Familiarity with geospatial analytics, digital twins, and enterprise GIS modernization initiatives.

Important Notes

  • This is an Architect/Consulting role and not a developer position.

  • Candidates should be able to articulate real-world geospatial architecture use cases and demonstrate successful project experience.

  • Must be comfortable engaging stakeholders during workshops, strategy sessions, and architecture reviews.

  • Availability to travel to Houston for key workshops, planning sessions, and executive discussions is preferred.

Desired Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has practical experience designing and implementing geospatial architectures, understands how geospatial data supports business operations, and can clearly explain architectural decisions, integration strategies, and successful use cases involving LiDAR, satellite imagery, CAD models, and enterprise GIS platforms.
