Job Description

Renesas Electronics is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer for our Palm Bay, Florida site to develop, implement,ย monitor, andย maintain company occupational and environmental health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.ย ย As the lone Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) professional,ย you will shape and mold the safety culture of a manufacturing facilityย comprisedย of 370ย non-unionย employees;ย and provide support and guidance to site management on OEHS matters.ย ย ย 

Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

  • Serve asย theย Subject Matter Expert in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety.ย 

  • Maintain the Renesas OEHS written plans and specifications to ensure continued compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and FDEP regulations.ย 

  • Ensure full adherenceย to safety and security requirementsย promulgatedย by theย USNRC,ย and DHS.ย 

  • Lead the development and implementation of OEHS programs and activities to achieve andย maintainย compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations.ย 

  • Develop andย maintainย cordial and respectful working relationships with local authorities such as PBFD, Brevard Co. HazMat, and PBPD as it relates toย complying withย federal mandates.ย 

  • Monitor legislative changes resulting in new OEHS regulations andย determineย their applicability to the organization's procedures.ย ย Plan and implement actions asย appropriate.ย ย 

  • Anticipate and recognize workplace hazards, evaluate exposures, and offer control measures to protect employees from the identified hazards.ย 

  • Participate in internal audits as necessary, review findings and opportunities for improvement, andย identifyย and implement corrective actions.ย 

  • Conductย accident/incident investigations andย identifyย preventative measures.ย 

  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct OEHS training.ย ย ย 

  • Perform periodic environmental inspections.ย 

  • Responsible for emergency response and planning operations and oversees the development and activities of the site's emergency response team.ย 

  • Evaluate and approve new chemical useย in accordanceย withย HazComย requirementsย as aย componentย of the management of change process.ย 

  • Coordinate andย assistย in the execution of capital OEHS projects to ensure continued complianceย with regulatory requirements.ย 

  • Supervise the site's hazardous waste operations (LQG).ย 

  • Maintain the site's two radioactive materials licenses for compliance with FL Bureau of Radiation Control and US Nuclear Regulatory Commissionย mandates.ย 

  • Manage the site's air operation permitย in accordance withย FL Dept of Environmental Protection.ย 

  • Prepare andย submitย all federal and state OEHS-related reports.ย ย 

Qualifications

Key Qualificationsย 

  • Must be a self-starter and able to perform atย a high levelย withย minimal to noย supervision.ย 

  • Bachelor's degree inย an appliedย science, an OEHS disciplineย (e.g., industrial hygiene), or public health from an accredited institution.ย 

  • 10+ years of OEHS experienceย 

  • Thorough knowledge of state FDEP regulations, and federal OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.ย 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to relate across all organizational levels.ย 

  • Strongย proficiencyย with MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.ย 

  • Candidateย must be a US citizen.ย 

Desiredย 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.ย 

  • >10 years of OEHS experienceย 

  • 3+ years of OEHS experience in a manufacturing environmentย 

  • CIH or CSP certification is highly desirableย 

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with ISO OEHS standards, ISOย 14001ย and ISO 45001ย

This position is 100% onsite Monday through Friday in Palm Bay, FL.
