Freelance Couture Designer – Luxury Fashion House – ANDREW KWON


Location: New York, NY

Duration: 4 weeks

Start Date: August 18, 2026 through September 30, 2026.


Join the ANDREW KWON Atelier in New York as we meticulously prepare for our upcoming New York Fashion Week couture collection and runway show on September 15, 2026.


ANDREW KWON is a New York City based luxury fashion house featured in leading fashion publications and on red carpets worldwide. His work has been seen on the likes of Madison Beer, Chrissy Teigen, Nikki Glaser, Suni Lee, and Eileen Gu.


Specializing in eveningwear and bridal, ANDREW KWON is committed to redefining modern American couture and fashion.


We are seeking talented and detail-oriented designers to join our New York City Atelier. This role is ideal for a passionate individual eager to gain hands-on experience in the world of luxury fashion and couture. You will work closely with our design team, as well as Andrew, assisting in various aspects of the creative process and garment development.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in hand sewing and machine sewing for garment construction and embellishments
  • Support pattern making and draping for new designs
  • Participate in garment construction, including cutting, assembling, and finishing pieces
  • Work with the team on embroidery techniques and textile embellishments
  • Gain hands-on experience in the Garment District, assisting with sourcing and production coordination
  • Assist with fabric selection, handling, and textile manipulation
  • Provide support during fittings, alterations, and production prep
  • Maintain an organized and efficient workspace, ensuring materials and samples are properly managed
  • Learn couture techniques in both draping, pattern making, sewing, color story building, fabrication, materiality, and more.


Qualifications:

  • Based in New York
  • Strong sewing skills (both hand and/or machine) with attention to detail
  • Eager to learn and ability to learn quickly
  • Basic knowledge of pattern making and draping
  • Understanding of fabric properties and construction techniques
  • Experience or coursework in embroidery and textile embellishments is a plus
  • Previous experience in the Garment District or with a fashion brand is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for luxury fashion, couture, and craftsmanship
  • Prior internship experience
