At Chromalox, we build advanced thermal technologies for the world's most challenging industrial heating applications.
Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we got our start with an innovative solution 100 years ago when a self-taught engineer invented the first metal-sheathed resistance heating element. It was this then-advanced thermal technology that launched an entire industry.
We excel in industries that have high expectations. We are acknowledged as experts at delivering solutions that exceed specifications, limit risk, and reduce operating costs.
Join us as we continue to provide solutions to our customers and the world!
The Role:
The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and improves manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and optimize quality within a discrete manufacturing environment. This role provides engineering leadership by integrating advanced manufacturing methods, lean practices, and continuous improvement strategies to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective production.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead productivity and cost-reduction initiatives, including labor and material savings.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and automation to support production goals.
  • Support new product introductions with process development, documentation, and training.
  • Conduct time studies and maintain accurate labor standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing projects (e.g., Kaizen, VSM).
  • Troubleshoot and support equipment and process issues on the shop floor.
  • Collaborate with quality, planning, and procurement on materials, specifications, and standards.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with health and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain process documentation: work instructions, SOPs, control plans.
  • Utilize ERP systems (MS Dynamics 365 preferred) for documentation and reporting.
  • Participate in MRB team to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience in discrete manufacturing (metal forming, machining, assembly).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or other 3-D modeling software
  • CNC programming, Welding, Sheet Metal, and/or Machinist background a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement methods.
  • Experience with ISO standards and quality systems.
  • Skilled in plant layout, workflow optimization, and labor cost analysis.
  • Effective communicator with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel; MS Project a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably MS Dynamics 365).
  • Lean Manufacturing certification is a plus.
