Job description

Overview of Position:

The Freelance Copywriter works with the Creative Directors to develop copy that

communicates the brand values and product offerings of UNIQLO and its associated

brands. Projects include campaign concepting and ideation, including overarching

tagline and messaging development, high-level concepts, film ideas and scripts,

activation ideas, product naming, seasonal designer collection statements and product

copy for online and in-store signage, and more. The Copywriter will own the

messaging and work across all product lines and initiatives of the UNIQLO brand,

including designer, museum and athlete collaborations.

Essential Functions:
  • Highly-experienced in creating and owning high-level concepts, taglines, and messaging for campaigns, films, activations, and product
  • Ability to write long and short-form copy across a variety of projects within tight deadlines.
  • A skilled and emotionally-intelligent presenter when it comes to management and stakeholder meetings.
  • Is multi-talented across creative ideation to pull swipe and own/create decks as needed.
  • Develops language for product copy of core, key items and seasonal product that works globally, and that is descriptive and compelling. Writing copy that is imaginative, emotive, and brings UNIQLO’s simple apparel to life in fresh ways.
  • Maintains UNIQLO’s highest standards by developing compelling, engaging copy in compliance with brand voice and guidelines.
  • Continually raises the bar on creativity, and drives the creation of original concepts that result in effective campaigns.
  • Maintains a clear and consistent brand voice.
  • Creates, edits and proofreads copy to ensure accurate spelling, grammar, formatting, clarity and legal compliance.
Qualifications:
  • A diverse portfolio that shows a range of work across fashion, sport, and various consumer goods
  • At least 5+ years of copywriting experience in a creative agency or in-house advertising
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in English, journalism, communications, advertising, or comparable work experience.
  • Has a genuine interest and connection to the fashion, design, and art worlds in NYC and internationally
  • Proficiency with Google Slides, Docs, Sheets, etc.
  • Strong conceptual skills with knowledge of how copy relates to product, brand, design, graphics and concept.
  • Ability to function within deadlines, while working both independently and as part of the team, without sacrificing a consistently high level of attention to detail.

Hourly rate: $65 - $85 per hour
