About the Opportunity

Our client is a clinical-stage biotechnology company preparing to launch a Phase 2 programme in fistulizing and fibrostenotic Crohn's disease. As the study moves into site engagement and, later, active enrolment, the organisation is looking to bring on two experienced, field-based Medical Science Liaisons — one to cover the eastern United States and one to cover the western United States — to support site relationships and scientific engagement across the trial network.

This is a flexible, freelance/contractor engagement rather than a traditional employed role, designed for experienced MSL professionals who value the autonomy of independent consulting while still being fully embedded in the day-to-day life of the study team.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary scientific and clinical point of contact for investigator sites within your assigned territory (East or West Coast).
• Support site selection, feasibility, and engagement activities ahead of study start-up.
• Build and maintain relationships with investigators and site staff, acting as a trusted scientific resource throughout the trial.
• Attend and contribute to site evaluation meetings and, once the study is active, an investigator meeting expected in November.
• Travel within your territory to visit sites face-to-face as the programme ramps up (travel expected to increase materially from November onward).
• Join internal team meetings and calls as needed to stay aligned with the wider clinical and medical affairs team.
• Represent the sponsor's culture and values in every site and stakeholder interaction, functioning as an integrated member of a small, close-knit team rather than an external resource.

Candidate Requirements

• Prior experience as a Medical Science Liaison, ideally with direct exposure to gastroenterology (GI) clinical studies.
• Comfortable operating as an independent consultant/contractor (own LLC or equivalent preferred).
• An established or readily buildable KOL/site network within the relevant US region.
• Willingness and ability to travel regionally, including site visits and an in-person investigator meeting.
• Strong communication skills — clear, concise, and to the point.
• A collaborative, diplomatic, and personable style; someone who reads the room well and works easily within a small, tightly-knit team.
• MD/physician qualification is not required for this role.

Engagement Structure

• Contract structure to be agreed based on workload predictability — options include hourly, day-rate (per diem), or a fixed monthly retainer averaged across expected hours.
• Travel and expenses (flights, hotels, ground transport) are billed directly to the client rather than routed through the staffing agency, to avoid payment delays.
• A pathway to full-time conversion may be available in future, should both parties wish to formalise the relationship.
• Notice period and full contractual terms to be confirmed and documented prior to placement.
