Job description

Carolina Compounding and Nutrional Pharmacy is seeking a motivated, professional individual to fill the role of pharmacy technician. The applicant would preferably have at least three years of experience as a compounding pharmacy technician. A mature, professional individual is required to assume a position in the lab while working under the direction of the pharmacist-in-charge. More details are as follows:
General Definition
The pharmacy technician's purpose is to assist the pharmacist-in-charge and staff pharmacists with the pharmacy's day-to-day activities.
General Technician Responsibilities
• Help patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders;
• Enter prescription orders into the computer;
• Create and update patient’s health and insurance information in the computer;
• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with local, state, federal, and company regulations;
• Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims;
• At the point of sale, verify that the customer receives the correct prescription(s);
• Assist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions;
• Prepare the pharmacy inventory;
• Screen telephone calls for the pharmacist;
• Communicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization;
• Compound oral solutions, ointments, and creams;
• Prepackage bulk medications;
• Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into practice;
• Assist other pharmacy technicians;
• Maintain knowledge of loss prevention techniques;
• Locating and pulling raw materials for batch use.
• Weighing Raw Materials in accordance to the Batch sheet & procedures.
• Compounding products in accordance to SOPs.
• Accurately maintaining all documentation.
• Housekeeping and Material Handling.
• Confirm in-house availability of raw materials for current and next runs. Seek and understand schedule and demand plans. Coordinate with upstream and downstream processes by working with others in receiving, shipping, material replenishment to ensure availability of materials.

• Ability to adhere to all safety standards and wear and utilize all personal protective equipment
• Ability to adhere to all quality procedures and standards in the big batch, small batch and the shipping/receiving areas.
