Job description

Competitive Power Ventures, Inc. (“CPV”), with headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, as well as offices in Braintree, MA and Sugar Land, TX is uniquely positioned to leverage global technology and financial partnerships to help modernize America’s power generation. We are driven to improve our energy infrastructure by developing and operating power generation facilities using cutting edge, domestically available renewable power and natural gas technology. CPV is owned by OPC Energy, the first privately held electric company in Israel.

CPV is seeking a Manager of Regulatory Affairs to join its External Affairs team. As the company expands its presence in Texas with the construction of the CPV Basin Ranch Energy Center, this position will represent the company in ERCOT stakeholder processes, monitor regulatory and market developments, and collaborate across the organization to support the company’s business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Represent CPV in ERCOT stakeholder meetings, Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) proceedings, and other industry forums.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory, legislative, and market developments affecting ERCOT and communicate implications across the organization.
  • Develop and advance regulatory strategies supporting CPV’s business objectives in ERCOT.
  • Manage and coordinate external regulatory consultants, technical advisors, and outside counsel in support of CPV’s ERCOT regulatory strategy.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with regulators, policymakers, market participants, transmission providers, trade associations, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal business teams to evaluate market rule changes and emerging policy initiatives.
  • Coordinate CPV’s participation in relevant industry working groups, task forces, and trade organizations.
  • Prepare written analyses, presentations, and recommendations regarding regulatory and market issues.
  • Support cross-functional teams by providing regulatory and market expertise for strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in the ERCOT market, including regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement, public policy, or wholesale electricity markets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERCOT market rules, stakeholder processes, and the Texas regulatory landscape, including the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT).
  • A strong understanding of the principles of competitive power markets.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% as necessary
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and financial credit check.
  • This position is based in Sugar Land, TX, and follows a hybrid work arrangement. Candidates located in the Houston or Austin metropolitan areas will be considered.
Compensation

The base annual salary range for this position is $120,000 – $150,000 in the Company’s good faith estimate. The actual base salary for this position will be contingent upon individual experience, role responsibilities, and office location.

In addition to base salary, this position allows additional compensation and benefits, including:

  • an annual discretionary bonus up to 30%, fully contingent based on individual and company performance,
  • paid time off (PTO) of 120 hours per year earned monthly, and up to 13 company paid holidays, and
  • group benefits: 100% company paid medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 100% company match up to 6%, life insurance, short-and-long term disability, parental leave and flexible spending accounts.

The base annual salary range may be modified in the future.

Competitive Power Ventures, Inc. reserves the right to change or terminate any or all benefit plans and/or plan design at its discretion.

CPV holds all employees to the highest ethical standards and is committed to conducting business with integrity, transparency and honesty to ensure our success.
