What is a freelance coffee project?

A Freelance Coffee Project typically involves a professional working independently on coffee-related assignments for various clients, rather than being employed by a single company. These projects can include tasks like coffee shop consulting, barista training, menu development, coffee sourcing, or marketing. Freelancers in this field often bring specialized expertise and work on a project-by-project basis, allowing them to collaborate with multiple businesses within the coffee industry. This flexible approach enables both experienced coffee professionals and newcomers to contribute their skills to diverse projects and clients.

What are some common challenges freelance coffee project consultants face when working with multiple clients?

Freelance coffee project consultants often juggle several clients at once, which can lead to challenges in time management and meeting diverse client expectations. Each client may have unique goals, from sourcing beans to designing café menus or improving barista training, requiring consultants to quickly adapt to different business models and cultures. Additionally, freelancers must handle their own marketing, invoicing, and administrative tasks. Building strong communication skills and setting clear project boundaries are essential to ensure successful collaborations and maintain a steady workflow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance coffee consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Coffee Consultant, you need deep knowledge of coffee sourcing, brewing techniques, and quality assurance, often supported by experience in the coffee industry or certifications like SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) credentials. Familiarity with coffee roasting equipment, cupping protocols, and relevant software for client management and reporting is valuable. Strong communication, client relationship building, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for success. These capabilities ensure you can deliver expert guidance, adapt to diverse client needs, and sustain a successful independent consulting practice.

Job description

About Us:

Dartcor Enterprises is the parent company behind a family of hospitality brands — Dartcor Hospitality, Chelsea Hospitality (The Morris Proper, General Coffee Co.), and Ome Caterers — operating across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Together, our brands design restaurants, cafés, boutique hotels, workplace dining, catering, and cultural spaces that remind us why hospitality matters. Refined yet accessible, every concept brings people together, deepens belonging, and reintroduces timeless rituals of connection in ways that feel fresh, resonant, and unforgettable.

The Role:

We are seeking a Marketing Director to lead the next chapter of our growth. This is a rare opportunity to own and build the Marketing Operations of an enterprise that is reshaping how people experience hospitality across multiple brands and venues.

This role is responsible for leading all Marketing Operations functions across Dartcor Enterprises and its brands — Dartcor Hospitality, Chelsea Hospitality, and Ome Caterers. You will drive brand strategy, creative execution, digital performance, and business-specific campaigns that serve both B2B and B2C growth. You’ll also lead a small in-house team, oversee agency and consultant partnerships, and develop the systems and structure needed to support a high-performing marketing operation spanning the full portfolio.

This is a hands-on, strategic, and highly collaborative role ideal for a dynamic marketing leader who can balance brand storytelling with business impact across a multi-brand environment.

Requirements

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and lead marketing strategy across all Dartcor Enterprises brands — Dartcor Hospitality, Chelsea Hospitality, and Ome Caterers — aligned with enterprise growth goals
  • Build and manage a nimble, high-performing in-house team
  • Oversee brand development across the portfolio, ensuring each brand keeps a distinct voice while reinforcing the Dartcor Enterprises parent identity
  • Lead CRM, digital marketing, and content strategies that support both sales and brand awareness
  • Create and manage integrated B2B and B2C campaigns tailored to each brand and business need
  • Manage and evaluate agency and freelance partners across PR, creative, and paid media
  • Support enterprise-level strategic planning and growth initiatives, partnering with business unit leads across all brands
  • Shape the presence of Dartcor Enterprises and its brands across owned, earned, and social media channels
  • Drive influencer relationships and partnership marketing
  • Own the entire marketing budget and planning across the enterprise

What We Need From You:

  • 5-10 years of diverse marketing experience, with demonstrated leadership in both B2B and B2C environments
  • Strong project management skills: planning, hitting tight deadlines, an eye for detail, a high bar for quality of execution, juggling multiple high priorities, and the ability to bring structure
  • Self-starter — able to connect the dots and anticipate needs, work without micromanagement, and proactively report status and escalate when support is needed
  • Can-do attitude — bring creative, cost-efficient solutions, look for opportunity, and like to build; entrepreneurial
  • Proven success developing brands and driving measurable business results, ideally across more than one brand or business unit
  • Experience managing teams and scaling marketing operations
  • Strong strategic thinking, creative instinct, and the ability to execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional taste and a deep appreciation for high-end hospitality, design, and culture
  • Strong digital marketing skills across SEO/SEM, paid media, email, and social — proficient with Google Ads, Meta Ads, email platforms (HubSpot, Mailchimp), and CMS tools
  • Data-driven, with proficiency in GA4, attribution reporting, and performance dashboards
  • Experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or lifestyle sectors is a plus — but not required
  • Skilled in managing cross-functional priorities and communicating with executive leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management, or a related field
  • On-site presence required 4–5 days a week in Morristown, NJ

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with multi-brand or parent/sub-brand marketing architecture
  • Existing media or influencer relationships in the NJ/NYC market
  • Background in restaurants, catering, and events, or F&B marketing
  • Familiarity with hospitality CRM platforms

Benefits

What You'll Get From Us:

This is not a legacy marketing role — it is a build, grow, and lead opportunity. You’ll join an enterprise that is reshaping the future of hospitality by centering human connection, design, and care. You will help tell that story — and scale it across Dartcor Enterprises and our family of hospitality brands: Dartcor Hospitality, Chelsea Hospitality, and Ome Caterers.

  • Competitive salary- $95-$100,000; commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based bonus tied to brand and revenue milestones
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Life, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) to help you invest in your future
  • Paid time off to help support your life outside of work
  • Food & beverage perks across Dartcor properties
  • The chance to work alongside collaborative team members who share our core values and are eager to help build Dartcor Enterprises’ marketing operation
