Job description

Position Summary:

The CNC Router/Flatbed Operator is responsible for understanding and operating, under the direction of the Production Manager, Signs, machinery used in sign fabrication including but not limited to the Mimaki JFX 500-2131 flatbed printer and the Multi Cam Apex 3R CNC Router.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.   • Responsible for the full-scale operation including programming of the APEX 3R CNC Router to cut materials such as foam, textiles, etc.).
  • Responsible for the full-scale operation of the Mimaki JFX-500 UV Flatbed Printer
  • Responsible for service checks, daily and scheduled maintenance, and other periodic inspections of the machines according to the manufacture recommendation.
  • Responsible for working closely with Signage Designers to receive art files for printing and understanding any special instructions for the job.
  • Uses EFI and Mimaki Rip programs to program flatbed printer and produce media.
  • Responsible for assisting with fabrication of wood, metal, and plastic signs and sign components.
  • Responsible for assuring the product is free of defects and is the best quality possible.
  • Attends trainings and various courses to stay up to date technically with any changes in software, processes, operations, etc. used in CNC routing or Flatbed printing.
  • Responsible for maintaining a general knowledge of jobs in production (via workorders).
  • Responsible for prioritizing schedule to complete jobs in production in accordance with deadlines.
  • Responsible for posting all materials and labor to work orders daily.
  • Responsible for ordering consumables (ink, etc.) for printer and other shop supplies.
  • Responsible for monthly inventory audit and maintaining accurate inventory on consumables like paint, vinyl, inks, metals, etc.
  • Responsible for communicating with Production Manager, Signs, Project Manager(s) and Business Development Representatives to ensure best production methods for jobs are being utilized.
  • Responsible for notifying Production Manager, Signs in a timely manner of any materials that are required of a job.
  • Responsible for maintaining machine inspection sheets, cleaning equipment and work area; assists in maintaining a neat work area including company vehicles.
  • Responsible for adhering to all safety regulations including, but not limited to, OSHA, Air Lift Safety operations, State motor vehicle operation laws, etc.
  • Responsible for packaging defective-free finished products for shipment or delivery.
  • Responsible for keeping all flat substrates neat and organized in storage area.
  • Responsible for completing Vehicle Safety Checks and communicating any issues to Production Manager, Signs.
  • Responsible for cutting and weeding vinyl, decals, lettering, laminating vinyl etc. according to the job ticket.
  • Utilizes sign knowledge to travel to job sites and install various signage per client specifications and represent Graphcom in a positive manner.
  • Responsible for assisting with installs and ensures that every job site is clean and free of debris prior to leaving. Takes pictures of final installation.
  • Responsible for ensuring that company vehicles are fully prepared before on-site installations by loading tools, materials, maps, directions and any other necessary equipment related to the installation process.
  • Will be cross-trained and utilized as needed in other areas of the Business.
  • Maintains the highest level of security and confidentiality as defined by company policy
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or President/CEO

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in a signage/large format strongly preferred.
  • Preferred experience applying vinyl.
  • Preferred experience with EnRoute or other similar CNC file program.
  • Knowledge of Corel Draw and Adobe products.
  • Knowledge graphic design and vector graphics is required (1+ years).
  • Comfortable working with heights (from a boom).
  • Exclusion from the System for Award Management (SAM) List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) prior to hire and ongoing throughout their tenure at the company. Inclusion in the LEIE is grounds for immediate dismissal
  • Complete all required training courses upon hire and annually thereafter
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Valid Driver’s License required with no moving violations within 3 years (annual MVR check) with ability to obtain medical card.
