Job description

Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, Free Market Health supports forward-thinking payers and specialty pharmacies of all sizes who need to operate in a complex and opaque market. We empower all stakeholders to optimize resources and maximize opportunities while focusing on the most important stakeholder of all: the patient.
The Role
We are seeking an Implementation Project Manager to lead client program implementations from executed Statements of Work through full technical and operational launch. This role is responsible for end-to-end delivery of complex, large-scale client programs, coordinating execution across cross-functional internal teams and external stakeholders. The position ensures launch readiness, adherence to timelines, and fulfillment of contractual commitments while supporting long-term client partnership objectives.
This role oversees multiple concurrent initiatives, ranging from large, multi-workstream implementations to smaller expansions with existing partners. Responsibilities include managing technical integrations, operational setup, communications planning, and collaboration with third-party partners such as health plans, PBMs, and pharmacies. The Implementation Project Manager maintains strong project governance, manages scope changes, and provides regular updates to leadership and clients, playing a critical role in driving successful launches, client satisfaction, and scalable delivery operations.
What You'll Do
  • Own end-to-end delivery of large, multi-workstream client implementation projects.
  • Coordinate technical integrations, operational setup, communications, and pharmacy network onboarding.
  • Serve as primary point of coordination across cross-functional internal teams and external partners (health plans, PBMs, pharmacy offices).
  • Establish and maintain structured project cadence (daily, weekly, monthly) and lead cross-functional project meetings.
  • Monitor project execution, identify risks or issues, and drive mitigation and escalation as appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to contractual scope, timelines, and strategic client partnership objectives.
  • Provide routine project status reporting to internal leadership and client executives.
  • Support scope changes and revisions to statements of work as needed.
  • Oversee smaller launches and expansions with existing client partners.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., pharmacy operations, systems engineering, operations research, software development).
  • Healthcare industry experience, preferably supporting health plan operations, pharmacy operations, or pharmacy claims.
  • 3 years of program or project management experience, with demonstrated ownership of scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Familiarity with agile project management tools (e.g. Jira, Trello, Confluence) preferred.
  • Experience with traditional project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Smartsheet) preferred.
  • Functional understanding of SQL and basic BI tools preferred.
  • Strong understanding of prior authorization and pharmacy claims processes, including supporting data structures.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate both tactical working sessions and executive-level meetings.
  • Experience operating in both waterfall and agile delivery environments.
