Overview
Join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of Free Market Health
We are seeking a seasoned and results-oriented Pharmacist-in-Charge to oversee the operations of our Non-Dispensing Pharmacy. This role will be involved in creation of this new business line at Free Market Health, and will be responsible for helping to create policies and processes, hiring team members, and overseeing daily oversight and management of all functions of the Free Market Health Pharmacy, including ongoing leadership of pharmacy technicians who support the pharmacy operation.
Core Job Responsibilities
The Pharmacist in Charge is required by law to work onsite full-time (M-F), in the Pittsburgh-based Pharmacy (Strip District). The core job responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
Regulatory Compliance
-Create and ensure adherence to facility SOPs and procedures. Oversee reporting and auditing as needed.
-Ensure the pharmacy operates in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of changes in pharmacy law and implement necessary changes to policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance
- Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy, safety, and efficacy of pharmacy services.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with established protocols and standards.
Prior Authorization Management
- Provide professional guidance to pharmacy technicians who manage PA management for Free Market Health clients.
Pharmacy Operations Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy, including meeting KPIs, supervising staff, scheduling, and workflow management.
- Ensure that all pharmacy staff are trained and competent in their roles and responsibilities.
Collaboration and Communication
- Serve as a liaison between the pharmacy, Free Market Health Intake Operations, and Free Market Health Referral Operations teams.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure coordinated operational execution.
Professional Development
- Stay current with advances in pharmacy practice and participate in continuing education opportunities.
- Mentor and support the professional growth of pharmacy staff.
Policy and Procedure Development
- Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective pharmacy practice.
- Regularly review and update policies to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with pharmacy operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure accuracy of prescription transfers, including ORTF.
Technology Utilization
- Utilize pharmacy management software and electronic health records to streamline operations and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
Background Requirements
The essential skills, education and experience include:
Minimum Education
Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Pennsylvania, additional state licenses are a plus.
Experience
Previous experience as a Pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) required, PIC experience in Specialty Pharmacy preferred. Operations and Team leadership experience is a plus.
Required skills & knowledge
Expert level communication/interpersonal skills, writing standard operating procedures, knowledge of specialty pharmacy industry
Desired skills & knowledge
Prior Authorization experience at a Health Plan, PBM, or other delegated entity is a plus
Competencies
Leadership, Communications, Problem solving, Risk management, Adaptability, Issue/Conflict resolution
Physical Requirements: Minimal business travel may be required, 1-2 trips per year.
