What is a freelance job?

Freelance jobs are work opportunities where individuals are self-employed and offer their services to clients on a project or contract basis, rather than working as a full-time employee for one organization. Freelancers can work in a variety of fields such as writing, graphic design, programming, consulting, and more. They typically have the flexibility to choose their clients, set their schedules, and negotiate their rates. Freelancing allows for greater independence but also requires managing your own taxes, benefits, and finding consistent work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance professional?

To thrive as a Freelance Professional, you need expertise in your chosen field, strong self-management, and a solid portfolio demonstrating relevant experience. Familiarity with project management tools (like Trello or Asana), online collaboration platforms, and basic invoicing or accounting software is often necessary. Exceptional communication, time management, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for building client relationships and managing multiple projects. These skills and tools are important as they enable freelancers to deliver quality work consistently, maintain client satisfaction, and successfully run their own business.

What are some common challenges freelancers face in managing multiple clients simultaneously?

Freelancers often juggle multiple projects and clients at once, which can lead to challenges such as meeting overlapping deadlines, keeping clear communication, and maintaining high-quality work across assignments. Effective time management and organization are essential, as is setting clear expectations with clients from the outset. Many freelancers use project management tools and regularly update clients to ensure transparency and avoid misunderstandings. Learning to prioritize tasks and occasionally saying no to additional work can help prevent burnout and ensure long-term success.

Job description

Compensation $22.00 per hour + Bonuses + 100% of your Tips

Shake Things Up as a Bartender at Party Shakers! Are you ready to bring your energy, creativity, and passion for crafting amazing drinks to the table? Party Shakers LLC is looking for experienced, high-energy Event Bartenders to join our dynamic on-call roster. This is a true freelance role where no two days are the same. While this role is primarily focused on bartending (about 75%), we also provide specialty coffee catering, so barista skills (the other 25%) are a massive plus! Every shift is a new adventure—you might be shaking up drinks at a beautiful private estate, a high-volume wedding, or pouring latte art at an exclusive morning event.

The Perks of the Gig

  • Constant Variety: Always different events, different crowds, and beautiful locations.
  • Paid Travel Time (Office Pickups): If an event requires you to stop by our Van Nuys office to pick up a bar kit or supplies, you are paid on the clock for your travel time from the moment you arrive at the office until the event ends!
  • Keep Your Tips: On top of your hourly rate and potential bonuses, 100% of the tips you make are yours.

What You’ll Be Doing Because we are an event-based business, no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Hitting the Road: Traveling to various event locations. Please note: our service area is wide, ranging from Downtown LA to Thousand Oaks.
  • The Setup: Many shifts require you to start by commuting to our Van Nuys office to pick up a mobile bar kit and supplies, driving to the venue to fully set up and operate, and then returning the gear. (Because of this route, candidates living in or near the San Fernando Valley/LA area usually find this commute the most manageable!)
  • The Craft & Vibe: Primarily preparing alcoholic beverages with flair and precision, while also occasionally stepping in to dial in espresso and pour latte art, all while creating a welcoming, upscale atmosphere for guests.

The Schedule (How it Works) As an on-call freelancer, every event has different timing. We reach out to our roster as events come in. Sometimes we will book you weeks in advance, and sometimes exciting events pop up last minute! We offer the shifts, and you let us know if you can take them.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 2+ years of professional bartending experience.
  • The "Double Threat" (Highly Preferred): While your main focus is bartending, candidates with barista experience (especially pouring latte art) will be highly prioritized for hiring and daytime events!
  • Certification: Active California RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certification is mandatory.
  • Transportation: Must have a valid driver's license, your own reliable vehicle to transport yourself (and sometimes supplies) to events, and a willingness to navigate LA traffic.
  • Bonus Points: An active California Food Handler card and previous catering experience.
