Job description

More than half of our Rhode Island clients are women looking to start, grow or otherwise improve a small business.

Our mission is to foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. Our team of more than 40 volunteers work with the Small Business Administration, the RI Secretary of Stateโ€™s office and other resources to ensure that clients are fully supported. And the national SCORE organization provides the training and resources that volunteers need.

Prospective and current small business owners require a wide range of knowledge and skills to be successful. SCORE Mentors assist them in achieving their goals by providing free business counseling, tools and other resource referrals. Plus we run a wide range of free or low cost educational programs.

Mentors are the driving force in achieving this mission and are the backbone of our award-winning organization. Please consider bringing your unique business knowledge, skills and experiences to strengthen our award-winning team in Rhode Island.

Our data shows that clients who receive mentoring are more likely to see positive outcomes such as businesses started, jobs created and increased revenues.

As a mentor you will:

  • Assist with developing long-term business plans
  • Connect clients with information and resources
  • Help clients evaluate and resolve problems
  • Provide guidance to improve operational effectiveness
  • Coach clients to be leaders and managers
  • And more

The ideal mentor has experience in the business world, whether in small businesses or large. Mentors are expected to be empathetic, professional, and effective at connecting with people. You set your own schedule. Work may be performed virtually or in-person with clients.

Make a difference in your community as a SCORE Mentor, guiding aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners to reach their goals.

If you are ready to make a difference in your community, or just interested in learning more, Apply today. We look forward to meeting you.

SCORE is a nonprofit resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration that helps aspiring and existing entrepreneurs succeed. Every year, our volunteers help thousands of entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of starting small businesses and achieving new levels of success. Volunteering is a way for you to give back, network with business experts, and share your knowledge. Join SCORE today to make a meaningful difference in your local economy.
