Job DescriptionIn this role, you will analyze complex data, identify emerging fraud trends, and develop strategies that prevent fraud across new account originations. You will own fraud rule strategies for one or more products, leveraging SAS, SQL, Python, and other analytical tools to design, test, implement, and optimize fraud controls. Working closely with partners across operations, technology, and risk management, you will quantify business impacts, balance fraud mitigation, customer experience, and operational efficiency to drive continuous improvement of fraud prevention capabilities
The ideal candidate is passionate about protecting customers, thrives in a fastpaced environment, and brings creativity to identifying fraud patterns and shaping effective rule strategies. Operating with a high degree of independence, this role requires strong analytical judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive fraud strategy initiatives with limited oversight.
You will evaluate emerging fraud trends, assess the performance and efficiency of existing rules, and leverage statistical analysis and performance monitoring to make data-driven recommendations regarding rule thresholds, segmentation, and treatment strategies. You will also design and execute strategy tests and champion/challenger initiatives to evaluate rule performance and identify opportunities for optimization. As a selfstarter and collaborative contributor, you will work closely with teams across and beyond the Quantitative Fraud Strategy organization to develop sustainable strategies, share insights, and support rule development across key areas including FirstParty Fraud and ThirdParty Fraud. This role emphasizes analytical skills, effective decision-making, and the ability to deliver clear, actionable recommendations informed by a strong understanding of rule strategy, operational considerations, and strategic priorities.
Primary Responsibilities

Analyze large, complex datasets to identify emerging fraud trends, performance shifts, and strategic opportunities that inform rule development and refinement
Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations and communicate strategy updates, rule performance insights, and business impacts to management, partners, and key stakeholders
Monitor and evaluate rule performance on an ongoing basis, detecting anomalies, validating thresholds, and proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen existing strategies and processes
Leverage approved AI, analytics, automation, and visualization tools to accelerate insight generation, improve operational efficiency, and enhance fraud detection capabilities
Collaborate closely with operations, technology, risk management, and crossfunctional teams to validate rule effectiveness, conduct rootcause analysis, and ensure alignment with compliance and governance standards
Basic Qualifications

- Typically more than eight years of applicable experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong background in fraud analytics and rule development, with demonstrated ability to identify emerging fraud trends and translate findings into effective rule changes
Deep expertise in SQL, SAS, and Python, with the ability to independently design analytical frameworks, automate complex processes, build predictive models, and translate large-scale data into actionable fraud risk strategies and business recommendations.
Experience supporting fraud strategy development within account origination, onboarding, identity verification, or digital banking environments
Experience with external fraud and identity providers (Socure, LexisNexis, Sentilink, etc.)
Experience performing strategy testing, segmentation analysis, or champion/challenger experiments
Experience working in large datasets to support strategy testing, treatment analysis, and performance evaluation
Knowledge of Fair and Responsible Banking principles and compliance considerations in strategy development
Comprehensive knowledge of bank systems and experience with fraud decisioning platforms and rule engines
Thorough understanding of fraud typologies, including First-Party Fraud, Third-Party Fraud, Synthetic Identity Fraud, and related fraud risks, along with experience developing mitigation strategies
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex analytical findings, fraud trends, and strategic recommendations to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
Ability to influence cross-functional partners through data-driven recommendations and effective communication.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastmoving environment, demonstrating strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective decision-making
